What US Allies fought in Korea, Vietnam?

I don’t recall learning much about Allied powers fighting with us in Korea and Vietnam. Vaguely, I recall the Brits, perhaps, in Korea? Certainly not the French in Vietnam…didn’t they try to convince us NOT to enter (then) French-Indochina?

Both Canada and Austraalia had troops in Korea.

Australia had soldiers “officially” in Viet Nam, whereas those Canucks who served, did so with US forces.

Canadians were in Korea: ‘1950-1953’ is the third set of dates on most of the war memorials I’ve seen*, after ‘1914-1918’ and ‘1939-1945’.

[sup]* well, except for that Boer War thing on University Avenue…[/sup]

I do know the ROK had soldier in Vietnam I am pretty sure the Aussies were there as well.

I do not know any of the info your looking for about the Korean War. Excluding what I have gleened from MAS*H which may not be to accurate.

For Korea ( from: http://www.korean-war.com/ )

Peak strength for the UNC was 932,964 on July 27, 1953 – the day the Armistice Agreement was signed:

Republic of Korea 590,911
Columbia 1,068
United States 302,483
Belgium 900
United Kingdom 14,198
South Africa 826
Canada 6,146
The Netherlands 819
Turkey 5,453
Luxembourg 44
Australia 2,282
Philippines 1,496
New Zealand 1,385
Thailand 1,204
Ethiopia 1,271
Greece 1,263
France 1,119

For Vietnam, I think all members of SEATO except France ( after they pulled out, obviously ) and Pakistan were involved in some way. SEATO included Australia, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States.

I know several vets of the Korean War, and they all sang the praises of the Turkish soldiers they served with. To a man, they all said, essentially, “One Turk was worth three Americans.”
