Debbie Does Dallas?
Deep Throat?
Requiem For A Dream?
The Passion Of Joan Of Arc?
Have you ever seen “The Brother From Another Planet”? It’s funny, touching, at times strong stuff, yet never vulgar, and with a good-guys-win, upbeat ending. If you can find it, which may be difficult, try it.
If you can’t find “TBFAP”, you could always try “Ruthless People” – an oldie, but very funny. Also funny, and kidsafe decent, is a claymation flick called “Chicken Run”, by the maker of the “Wallace and Grommet” films. You would likely find it in the kids’ section, but it’s a total hoot for an adult.
Yeh, I don’t get out much lately – why do you ask?
That sounds up my alley.
Once, years ago,I wanted to see a video I’d never seen.
It was called Pink Flamingos.
The only person who had a vcr was a neighbor, from my church.
Not a good idea.
he totally didn’t GET the movie.
Are you kiddin?
Me and my son have seen Chicken Run,twice, and we love Wallace and Gromit.
I’m not thinking of a kids movie.
What was the name of the one where a guy (Harrison Ford,I Think, was trying to prove he wasn’t the one who killed his wife?)
That was “The Fugitive.”
The Big Lebowski.
Or Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
“How High”, “Half-Baked” and “Office Space” are some of my favorites. I also particularly like “Pulp Fiction”, anything Monty Python, and “A Fish Called Wanda”.
“Blade II” just came to mind as a mindless action flick that’s kind of worth watching. Haven’t seen the first one.
It’s A Wonderful Life
Or, if that’s gone, Predator
Star Wars, Ep IV might also be a good choice for you. You know why.
because I’ve never seen anything called Star Wars ever?
What-no romantic comedies?
Oh, that kind of video date.
*Say Anything
Some Kind of Wonderful
Serendipity*
All good, I promise.
I trust your judgment.
Is Meg Ryan in any of them?
No. Unless you think you might like Joe Versus the Volcano
Eric Stoltz, Lea Thompson, & Mary Stuart Masterson
John Cusack and a cutie of a cutie named Kate Beckinsale
Absolutely perfect date tapes. And this is coming from a very jealous man!
I am so not a movie person.
You guys are a big help.
NoClueBoy, when we move to a warmer state, (which may or may not be Oklahoma) I will look you up!
** Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter ** is an interesting flick.
Unsure what restrictions this being a friend from church places on the video watching, but for a very classy, non-violent heist movie might I suggest The Thomas Crown Affair (the '99 remake).
There is a whole romantic side-story that includes a couple of somewhat steamy scense
out of all the recomendations on this thread I’d say ‘Say Anything’ would be the best. Funny romantic and smartly written. Good for girls good for guys good for no pressure romantic feelings.
