Just tried a new variety of mango called ‘ATAULFO’ Mango (cite: http://freshmangos.com/varieties.html)…in various places well away from the core I found really odd bits (1inch long, perhaps 1cm in diameter) of ‘growth’ with the color of cooked chicken. I can’t tell you what they taste like as I stopped eating the mango at that point…I can tell you its not part of the skin or pit as I’ve dissected both. I’ve eaten lots of mangos before but never this variety.
Now I’m worried some horrible infestation was in my mango and I’m dying to find out what was wrong with it?
My guess would be that if someone knew of a mango that had chicken-colored bits in it they would have responded. So…you might want to brush your teeth a few more times.
To be honest, it looks like a perfectly normal bad spot, possibly due to mold or something. That picture was just revolting, though – like a full-screen landscape of phlegm.
FIRST of all, the title of this thread made me laugh. Then I got to the post that claimed that the image was a BETTER picture. A BETTER picture of a strange chicken colored growth inside a paritially eaten fruit. Now, I ask you. Is that somthing that could be considered better than anything? I’m going to go away for a while. And when I come back, this thread better be gone. And I’m not kidding. xo, C.
