It has to be said that EvilCaptor has a thoroughly unpleasant persona on this board. Toleration is fine and dandy and I’m all for it, but I have to say I wouldn’t like this guy within ten miles of any woman I cared about. No, make that a hundred.
Right or wrong, I certainly understand why Inkleberry felt it necessary to start the thread in question.
Ok, there are six quotes and there are 16 threads for a total of 22 instances of squickness.
95% of 22 is 21. So only one quote or thread was provided to you by, wait, how could many people contribute only one quote or thread? Maybe they did a little more 5%.

I don’t believe your first assertion, and I don’t know what you mean by saying I’m using the SDMB for my fantasies. I think you’re projecting. My posts arouse feelings you find unpleasant, you assume that my intent is to provoke those unpleasant feelings. Wrong.
I’ll jump right up there and say that even though my wife and I enjoy some bondage, EC creeps me right out. I rarely post any more but I still read the boards quite a bit and have noticed quite a few of the threads that were cited in the now closed pit thread. They all creeped me out. As in, damn there’s something wrong with that guy, creeped out.
I also agree that just because something is discussed over at an anonymous forum, then the discussing of it shouldn’t be anathema here. Especially since the threads all occurred here.

I did a search. I looked at 100 of my posts, starting with yesterday. (I didn’t include today’s posts because the pit thread would obviously skew the sample. Of the 100 posts, 7 had bondage content. That amounts to 7 percent, hardly the tidal wave of filth that has been bandied about here. The 101st post had bondage content, so I’ll give you eight percent. But really, if you are seeing all that filth, you’re either reading mostly CS, where most of it occurs in context of media discussion (such as “Was Sailor Moon pornographic?”) or you are seeing bondage hwhere it isn’t. My posts in GD and the Pit far outnumber all my other posts, and almost never include bondage. Becuase it’s not relevant, see? If it IS relevant, I’m cool with it.

REPORT IT.
Make a formal report. Click that little icon on the side and tell us all about it.
Send any of us an email. Any administrator, any moderator; our email addresses are all over the board.
That’s how you get something done. Just calling someone out, calling them names, etc., that’s not the most useful thing you can do.
Otherwise, you’re pursuing another agenda . . . sometimes, perhaps without being aware of it, someone else’s agenda.
There’s times that what goes on here starts somewhere else and then we end up with it. It’s situations here being exploited for another purpose, mostly to be snarky. These situations are used as weapons aimed against members of the community and/or staffers. They’re the tool of the day . . . so to speak.

You said ‘almost every post he makes’. As you can see from the above analysis of his posts that 8% have bondage themes. That doesn’t come near ‘almost every post he makes.’ Maybe every post you read by him, if you don’t read the entire board. (I don’t’ expect you to) So don’t claim that ‘almost every post he makes’ has this theme when is it so easily verifiable it’s not true.
I agree that there would be no cause to ban a subject from the SDMB for the only reason that the subject is being mentioned at another board that discusses the SDMB.
However, when I see a bunch of people at a hate board saying “this poster has been doing X for years - someone needs to go to the SDMB and start a trainwreck about it!”, and the next day or two it’s posted at the SDMB, I think that this is a different scenario, and it is prudent to shut the thread down to help discourage this kind of behavior - acting as a puppet for the hate board posters.
Believe what you like. I’m not going to try and prove it to someone such as yourself.

I think this thread has been sidetracked and hijacked enough; besides, the original question is answered already.
If any of you have problems with one another, take your dispute somewhere besides ATMB; however, if you choose to air your disagreement on the board, remember that rules do apply and there’s limits to everything. You can agree to disagree and be civil about it.
