What was the first DVD you bought?

Three Kings. I actually bought it before I bought a DVD player.

Classic Albums: Who’s Next. Unlike Johnny, I already had a DVD player…which I had purchased earlier in the day. Actually, when I think about it, the DVD player came with a copy of Matthew Broderick’s Infinity…so that would technically my first DVD.

The first DVD I ever bought was Fellowship of the Ring. Then I went out and got a DVD player so I could watch it. The *second *DVD I bought was one year later…

The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Clue

Love the movie and was glad you could have it choose randomly one of the three endings if you wanted to.

Lost in Space. I WANTED to buy The Matrix, but it wasn’t out on DVD yet.

I bought two: A Clockwork Orange and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (still the funniest movie ever made). This would have been in 2000, when I bought my first laptop, which was also my first DVD-capable device.

BMW films The Hire series; short films produced by BMW, directed by top shelf directors like John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Michael Ritche, John Woo, et cetera, featuring Clive Owen as the nameless “Driver”, piloting various BMW models through action, dramatic, and comedic plots. “Ambush” is my favorite, although “Hostage” has a nice twist, and “Star” shows that Madonna’s relentless talent for self-promotion doesn’t preclude self-deprecation.

I’m pretty certain that John Frankenheimer’s Ronin, and the third and fourth were the Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufmann films Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.

Stranger

Mr Vampire

I can’t remember for sure now but I seem to recall that it was season 1 of Star Trek - TNG. That’s my best guess anyway.

The Matrix. Isn’t that the DVD that kicked players to mainstream?

Thomas and the Magic Railroad. The full-length feature with Alec Baldwin and Peter Fonda.
All I’ve purchased have been children’s videos. I don’t enjoy watching movies more than a time or two so it’s rather pointless to buy when I can just rent/borrow.

Two at the same time - A live Sade concert and The Fountain.

I’m pretty sure it was season 1 of ER.

Dirty Dancing.

I didn’t know how to open the damn thing, and ended up ripping off part of the plastic cover. :smack:

Rush Hour 2

Our first DVD player was a Christmas present, and the Spiderman special 4 (was it four?) disc box thingy was our first DVD, also a Christmas present.

In 2001, I bought a computer with a DVD player and bought The Perfect Storm so I could try it out.

Saving Private Ryan was my first DVD.

2001: A Space Odyssey.

Bought it sometime after 2001, though.
