what was the irony in modernity?

Hi there.
If anyone has an answer to this question please reply as I am very ignorant in the matter. Referencing to books would be a bonus.
thanks.

Why do I get the feeling that any answer I give will go straight into an essay?

Go and do some research yourself already.

I think modernity was more steely than irony. Steel is, after all, more modern than iron.

Or perhaps modernity.

What was the irony? You mean modernity’s over? There’s irony for you!

Welcome to the SDMB. A few points[ul][li]Your question makes no sense to me.
