What was the last Movie you've seen in a theater?

The last movies I saw were with the grandkids. I don’t remember the latest. They are the Inside Out, Wreck-it Ralph type movies.

It was “The Gentleman” back in January of 2020. Really enjoyed it, not as entertaining as “Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels” or “Snatch” but there was some incredible acting.

I remember I was really looking forward to “Black Widow” then the sh!t hit the fan.

Can’t wait to get back to the theater, but I probably won’t go until I get vaccinated.

Borat, '06. We already had a righteous home theatre system at that point - big screen, bigger subwoofer - but some friends wanted to watch Borat with us, so we went. Had a good time, but ever since just haven’t felt thrilled about the hassle/cost/benefit of watching in a cinema versus watching at home.

Pretty sure we saw Onward, which would have been moments before lockdown. Otherwise, I know we saw Knives Out and Jumanji at the end of 2019.

I honestly can’t recall, and now it’s making me crazy! Probably something from the Star Wars franchise, I’d guess. I’m not much for movies, but my husband likes them, so I’ll go with him on occasion.

For fun, I threw a little list of movies we saw this past year at home that were new and intended for the theater. Ones that were released digitally due to Covid or were not widely ever available for similar reasons. We saw:

The Kid Detective - great and fun. Worth a rental.

Synchronic - Not that great. Skip it.

Psycho Goreman - Cute, but only great in its first 30 minutes. Worth a rental.

Minari - We did not enjoy this and my wife and I have both been to Korea, have Korean-American friends, and both our children are Korean. I would skip it, to be honest.

Wonder Woman 1984 - It’s hilariously bad. I’d rent it or wait for it to go to 99 cents or something. Maybe get the Blu-ray from the library. It’s hilarious.

The Vast of Night - Free on Amazon Prime, but we found it too dull to be worth even that. If you really want a new movie and you have Prime, this is included.

Freaky - Fun, but not as good as Happy Death Day from the same director. Worth a rental for sure, though.

Run - Included with Hulu. Worth it there, but don’t buy it. Worth a rental if that is offered somewhere.

Rebecca - Netflix offered this. Not as good as Hitchcock’s, but not a terrible adaptation.

Palm Springs - Included with Hulu and worth it. Also worth renting if offered. Very funny and great movie.

Hamilton - Disney released this right to Disney+ due to Covid. It’s well made, but I thought the musical was only OK.

The Invisible Man - Our first Covid movie that only showed in theaters a few weekends and was pulled straight to home. Good movie, worth the rental.

Knives Out in late 2019 or very early 2020.
