What was the sexiest time in history?

I’ve noticed lately that I tend to have a interest in movies and magazines from the 1940’s. A lot of it is admittedly from the idea that “you know what, women looked really hot in that era”. Whether it’s the glamour of Hollywood gowns or the upswept hair that was so popular then, I really like the look of that era. The funny thing is I’m only 33, so it wouldn’t seem likely for me to prefer that era’s look to my own. Are there any others that tend to think a certain era is especially attractive?

Well, there was that 20 minutes at the bottom of the Marianas trench. That was pretty hot.

The sexiest time in MY history was the time my boyfriend… oh, er, whoops, wrong question

Cavewomen are pretty hot, or at least that’s what the porno movies tell me.

I can’t wait for the bubble-butt birdcaged-ass dresses to come back in style!

For real though, I like 1920s fashion, but pictures of 1920s ladies kind of frighten me. Ultimately I’ll take the present, thank you very much.

Right now. I can go damned near anywhere and find someone who I wouldn’t mind doing the horizonal mambo with.

However I just read an article in GQ wherein the author had this line: “The world will never seem as full of attractive, fuckable people as it does the bright sunny day that you go to the post office with a box full of wedding invitations.”

When I saw the thread title, I thought 1940s right away. Those noir films… wow.

I watch a lot of black and white movies. Some of those ladies on there are just freaking beautiful.

I remember when I was a kid I happened to catch an old May West movie late at night. She was wearing a fishnet top. And I swear one of her nipples were poking through the “net”. My silly ass stayed glued to that damn TV through the whole movie. And it wasn’t even a good movie! At least not to my puerile mind.

Late 1960’s. The Pill was there and AIDS was not.

Bustles? I saw a lot of fake ones when I was working with a theatre troupe.

I’d say that right now is the sexiest time, but the mid to late 60s were pretty hot too.

The time of Pirates and wenches. That was the sexiest time in history.

Late 60’s early 70’s

Women did not wear bras but they did have pubic hair and tan lines. (remember when tan lines were all kinds of sexy?)

I would say :

20s - That whole Roaring 20s \ Prohibition \ Capone and Lucky Luciano mobster \ flapper girl vibe

40s - All those Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth looking girls sitting around loney and horney while the men folk were off overseas fighting Japs and Nazis and jerkin’ it to the nose art on their B-17s (ok that last part sounded a little gayer than I intended, but you get the idea).

60s and 70s - Hippy chicks in tight jeans getting stoned and giving out all that free love

I will also second control-z’s Era of Pirate Wenches.

Pre Revolution France seemed to have it’s share of gettin busy, if effeminant guys in makeup and girls wearing giant poofy dresses all in wigs is your thing.
Unsexy times:
90s - I find it unfortunate that during my college years, girls felt it was sexy to wear oversized jeans and baggy LL Bean shirts.

80s - Unless ridiculous hair and coked up bitches are your thing

When was the sexiest time in history?

Well, I was taking World Civilization (Hist 101) and I was sitting between these two cheerleaders and they used to lean over my desk to talk to each other and…

When Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney, Hedy Lamarr, and Lauren Bacall strode the earth.

I would agree. Every time I watch old Starsky and Hutch episodes I think, “why aren’t there ever any women that look like this anymore?” There’s just a 70s look - the whole Boogie Nights style look - that women had back then. I don’t know exactly what it was, but it was really distinctive. Maybe it had something to do with the hairstyles - I always see 70s chicks with big styled hair, which I think looks sexy. And black women with Afros, also. I think today’s female styles are lame in comparison.

To me the 70’s seem like kind of sexually idyllic. Women put out but there was no AIDS and the women were natural – no fake boobs and big bushy beavers.

I wouldn’t call it the sexiest period in history (since there are few stunning actors, rather than actresses, I’ve seen from back then) but the 30s-50s definitely had the classiest looking celebrities. I sure wouldn’t mind it if this look caught on again for the fellows.

Personally, I’d probably enjoy something retro-Victorian like:

I’m assuming that you actually got to live through them, though. My only exposure to them is from old TV shows!

When I see photos of my dad with huge hair and a mustache, in a Yes t-shirt, with his stoner buddies back in the 70s, I just wish I could have been there!!
