It’s making me nuts. I can’t remember what this movie was. I’m thinking it was about 1960s vintage, set in a big city (maybe NY). We pretty much just saw the middle aged couple in one apartment, but the husband is feuding with somebody in another apartment. I think the feuding activity itself often happened on the balcony, though the movie was mostly about the marriage dynamic inside the apartment as the husband gets more and more obsessed with this feud.
One day, the husband comes home with a snow shovel. He bought it to use in this feud; maybe he was going to throw snow onto the other balcony or something. It really struck me that the show shovel had been wrapped by the store with brown paper and string – seemed so funny that this is how city people would purchase a shovel.
I picture Jack Lemmon and Ann Margaret, but looking up their films didn’t turn up any likely prospects, so I bet I’m wrong about this.
Anybody? Anybody???
