Okay, as I kid, myself and a few friends played a D&D type board game. I don’t remember too many of the details of the game, other than there was a large plastic castle which sat, IIRC, in the center of the board. It was an electronic game, and there were a series of panels which lit up in the castle and these would have things like “Orc attack” or something similar in them. Any ideas?

Sounds like Dark Tower to me … but they had brigands instead of orcs.
