I don’t know why but I got to thinking of a newspaper that my brother delivered in the 70’s. I’m pretty sure it was weekly and was mailed to him for him to deliver. It didn’t really have alot of news since it couldn’t be very current.
Now that I think of it, he may have gone house to house selling it rather than actually delivering subscriptions.
I was pretty sure it was called “Grin” until I did a search and couldn’t find anything.
“Grit”? First thing I thought of and very close to your Grin.
Yep, gotta be “Grit”. I never saw a copy, but saw many references to it.
Comic books of the day used to have ads asking kids to sell Grit subscriptions. I never saw a copy in real life though. Here’s a SDMB thread with some details.
Gotta be The Grit. It was in the 1960s too, I think. I too recall ads in comic books and other boy-oriented magazines targeting kids to become carriers.
Looks like it was just Grit, no “The.”
