What were your acts of past or present shallowness? Did you realize it at the time?

Here is mine as an example, I stopped smoking in Boot Camp when I was only 18. However, I always made sure over the next 5-6 years that I had a lighter in my pocket for any concert I attended. This was strictly for the quaint custom of holding the lit lighter up during the concert.

I did not realize how shallow this was at the time, until recently at an Allman Brother’s concert, I saw everyone holding up their cell phones instead and I thought to myself, “self, that is a really shallow and stupid thing to do.” I then had the minor epiphany, that I was being pretty shallow as an 19-25 year old carrying a lighter just to join in with the crowd.

There is one girl I am friends with who I find myself attracted to. I realized from interacting with her that 90% of this attraction stems from her ample bosom. My attraction has only slightly diminished even after realizing this. Oh well.

You will attain Buddha nature only when you realize that the same is true of all your female friends. :stuck_out_tongue:

That is a different type of shallowness of which I would think most males are guilty. I have definitely been guilty of this as well, but it seems very common. Now if you bought a sports car just to impress girls or something like that, it would be more in keeping with my op.

No! The ones that hold up their cell phones are corny. That stuff is corny. The symbolism of raising the flame (lighters) was cool. When you are feeling the vibe of the atmosphere, and the music, and that real nice state that a group of people can share when band is pouring their art and energy out over the crowd, it is perfectly natural for the crowd to show in unison that they are feelin’ it.

Till this day, when I am at a reggae concert, I hold up a flame if I have one. (I rarely have one since I no longer smoke, but someone around always does at a reggae concert). Even though I see so many young people with their phones up, my ol’ ass still puts up the fiyah!
