What were your favorite but crappy paying jobs?

I drove a bicycle rickshaw in Waikiki in Hawaii.

Didn’t make much money, but met lots of girls.

It was so much fun that I worked 7 days a week for about 5 months (the winter season) and didn’t mind at all.

During one of my restaurant gigs, there was a five-month period where I was one of three male servers (and one of two heterosexual male servers) in a waitstaff consisting of roughly 25 women, most of whom were drop-dead gorgeous twenty-something cocktail waitresses running around in low-cut tops and miniskirts.

You couldn’t pay me to relive my restaurant days again…except for those five months…and for that, you might not even have to pay me.

Sales Associate in a Sear’s Tool Department. Man, what a sweet gig. I didn’t have to stock shelves, I didn’t have to put up price tags, and I didn’t have to worry about making commission. All I had to do was try my best to answer customer’s questions and call the warehouse for items that were out of stock on the floor. On the rare occasion in which the warehouse had extras, I had to take an elevator upstairs to pick up the item and bring it back to the customer. I always tried to help customers, but I could have easily told customer’s that the item was completely out of stock and it would’ve never come back to haunt me. And, this particular store was inside a mall, so I had access to lots of close food. I kind of wish I would have stayed at this job.

I really enjoyed working as a housekeeper at a hospital. Second shift was very rewarding because once the administrators go home, you can just get your work done without somebody breathing down your neck. The whole atmosphere was different because it quieted down, the lights were lowered, visitors were gone and the patients were set for the night. You knew your job, did it and went home feeling good about it.

Being a secretary during the day, on the other hand, was one big hassle. You ran out of there thankful that you had escaped for now with your sanity.
