Purple and White
Black and gold.
It was a joke about spending 6 years in a 4 year high school. I did look through the website and it’s hard to find the years it covers.
US kindergarten is 5-6, first grade 6-7, all the way to 12th grade 17-18. Everything else can be interpolated; yes 9th grade is 14-15. The typical US high school is 9-12th grades, rarely 10-12 or even 6 or 7 to 12th grade schools exist. Sometimes due to low population but not always. The one I went to was 7-12, now I think it’s even 6-12, but it wasn’t because enrollment was low.
I always thought you were raised in Australia. I hope nobody I know are gasp Secret Canadians.
sklorange and nonxt.
Thank you for the clarification. I’ve lived in Australia since just before I began posting here (I was 30yrs old), so the assumption is not unwarranted. I will speak for both countries on occasion, which doesn’t help I’m sure.
I went to three different High Schools.
Brooke HS (Brooke County WV) Green and Gold
Lanphier HS (Springfield IL) Black and Orange
Pleasant Plains HS (Pleasant Plains IL) Red and Blue
Purple and white. I only know this because the sports teams people wore their sports teams shirts to class on game days.
I think we were the panthers. The other high school was the cougars. Or we were the cougars and they were the panthers. I’m not really sure. I was in theater.
Not sure but I think they were red and gold. My undergrad university was red and black. Then grad school at the U of Hawaii, which officially uses gold and black, unofficially green, as in all the school shirts, caps etc seem to have a green theme. This is Hawaii, you know.
My college was red and white. Indiana University. We were the Hoosiers. A dude with a giant head.
Oh, and the school I went to for my junior year as a visiting student, Gallaudet University, was the “Buff” and blue. Buff is a dark yellow. The Bisons.
If it helps, those are the same animal.
Black panthers are leopards though, or sometimes jaguars.
To me they’re all mountain lions.
Purple and white. Nice enough.
Out of pure coincidence my Wife likes the color purple. And it looks nice with white. So we had a purple and white wedding. Didn’t even cross my mind.
Some of my friends commented about it. Um no, it has nothing to do with high school.
Maroon and navy.
Pretty dismal, but it could have been worse.
Yes, it could have been maroon and orange. Unsurprisingly, my school is the only one with those colors listed here so far. (That said, I do actually enjoy that combination of colors after being exposed to it for four years.)
My high school is Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California. There is a big to-do on a Facebook page because the uniforms for the football team are in some colors other than the Redondo Red and White, suggesting 1) Corporate idiots who cannot follow directions or 2) Some PR stunt concocted by a firm which would be better off in the path of that hurricane.
not just red, but Crimson and White
Maroon and gold here. The Blackhawks.
People should be hurt or die because they got the football uniforms wrong? Maybe I’m missing the reason for such outrage here…
Edited to add: When I graduated in 1976, Lakeland’s school colors for graduation were red, white and blue. Even the tassels were colored red, white or blue and they made us line up in that order(red, white , blue, red, white, blue etc)
In some ways the Bicentennial really sucked.
Royal Blue and White. Go Grangers!
