What what your favorite boardgame as a kid?

late 50s/early 60s kid putting in his $.02
Monopoly. We’d play for days.

Twister is a most excellent game. Except the darn spinner was so easily broken.

Has anyone here every played or heard good/bad/indifferent buzz on co-operative games. They are big in the Waldorf/home schooling community and the basic gist of the games is you work together towards the goal not against each other. Part of me thinks this concept is totally Un-American. Another part of me thinks its cool.

Monopoly and Mousetrap

I can’t believe this many replies and I’m the first one to mention Backgammon. Still my favourite.

:o
Me too!
Only I’m not allowed to play it any more as my husband can’t beat me at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pssst! See post #17

And yes, it’s a board game.

Talisman, a British board game that seemed to be a cross between Monopoly and Dungeons and Dragons.

Used to have floating games of Talisman going on for DAYS at my apartment, long ago…

As a little kid** Sorry ** and Hungry Hippo

As an older kid Battleship

As a teen Stratego

We loved Totopoly. This is a board game based on horse-racing. It has two separate boards. On the first board you train the horses and on the second you race them, placing bets with the bookmaker.

Barbie Goes to the Prom. It came in a pink box with a picture of Barbie and a crown. (Circa 1962/63???) My best friend Susan and I played for blood. I still remember the name of the “geek” date. His name was Pointdexter. You should have heard us scream when we picked his card!

I don’t think it’s possible to play a game of Talisman in less than a day…

It especially pissed me off if you went through all the trouble to get to the center of the board, then drew a Fate card that essentially said “Boom, you died.” !$#%@^!%!?!

I played Chess with my father a lot as a kid, but never with anyone else. Me and my brothers would play mammoth games of Risk or Monopoly. Now I like Settlers, and Cranium. And I still play Chess.

I played Chess alot as a kid with my brother. I lost pretty much every game.

Mr. Ujest never played chess until about 10 years ago and was taught by a 9 year old. When we play, he kicks my butt.

Despite my luck on the battlefield, I perservere and keep trying to win.

Monopoly. Scrabble. Chess. Axis & Allies. Trivial Pursuit. The classics.

I love backgammon. Just the right mix of skill and luck.

Looks like my folks had the 1958 version of Careers… I might just have to get a new copy of that game…

Thanks for the links!
