Hunger games. I haven’t read the books yet (they are in my queue but the new Honor Harrington book kind of through off everything since I hadn’t heard it was coming out…and might not get to it soon since there is a new Dark Tower book coming out next month IIRC). I like to read the books before I go to the movie, so haven’t seen the movie yet either…will probably not see it until it comes out on iTunes or BluRay.
Anyway, mine is the movie The Christmas Story. I just learned about it a couple of years ago, a good 25 years after its release. I have absolutely no idea how that happened.
mmm
That was part of my point. When the song was on the charts in 1998, you generally heard it on “alternative” stations but not much anywhere else. If you listened to Top 40, it got a little airplay. On stations with an “urban contemporary” or similar format, likely never. I think it would’ve been fairly easy for even people who were in their 20s at the time to miss.
I miss most internet memes. I’d never heard of Chocolate Rain until a few months ago.
I’m fairly ignorant of modern pop music, although I’ve heard of most of the artists, and I’d probably recognize some of the songs from the stream of drivel emanating from the radio at work, but don’t ask me to match up the song with the artist.
