So I stopped by Zia last night to pick up some new tunes. I was kinda disappointed because I had the date wrong for the release of Sabbath’s new album (it comes out this coming Tuesday, 11 June), but there were other things on my list so I walked out with a stack of CDs anyway. (I never leave Zia Records empty-handed!)
I listened to them last night in a mammoth 4 hour session, and one CD just stood out above all the others and I knew almost instantly that this would be the album I listened to in my car all summer long.
Suicidal Tendencies - 13
The album grabbed my face right from the start with opener Shake It Out and by the time we had rolled into God Only Knows Who I Am I knew I was gonna be SuiCyco All Summer! I thought the absence of Rocky George and Rob Trujillo were gonna be tough to overcome, but newcomers Dean Pleasants and Steven Brunner kick some serious ass.
Prolly the only time I’ll take it out of the CD player will be to demo another new album for friends, Aussie hard-rockers Airbourne’s new album Black Dog Barking. It’s another perfect AC/DC (circa 1982) album!
So… anyone else know what the soundtrack to their summer is gonna be?
