I was just about to post that. The skin under my ring gets very dry and flaky if I don’t wash my hands thoroughly after putting clothes in the washer.
Since putting it on, my wedding ring has cut off my circulation.

Sounds like some of the respondents need to examine what their rings are made of.
First the veins come to the surface… Then the skin starts flaking…
Then the years roll by as you barely seem to change outwardly, but feel all stretched and thin, like butter scraped across too much bread.

Maybe you had a bit of a fungal infection where the ring was trapping moisture against your skin. Taking the ring off for a while allowed the skin to heal? Maybe?
