A staple of much science-fiction is after-the-apocalypse people trying to decipher things from before, like the kids in Thunderdome. Assume that you know that there will be a terrible, near-society ending war, and only a few things will survive. What would you like to see the wise men in that new world try to understand from ours?
Me, I wanna see people get the pictures of the big-eyed kids, the Margaret Keane stuff. They’d think we were bathed in radiation all day.
I collect bibles in different languages. I have some rather obscure ones, like Igbo and Hiligayon and Manx. Strangely, I don’t have French or Spanish as I keep giving those away to folks who can actually use them.
It’s mostly just curiosity, to be able to see the same text in as many languages as possible, and that happens to be the most translated book available. But there’s also an 8-year-old kid inside who heard about the Rosetta Stone and though how great it would be to continue the legacy and create a “key” to every language.
As for fun things, I’d like to leave a selection of matriarchal themed literature, so that the conservatives among them will think that Matriarchy is the “True Way.”
