Depends on your idea of ‘funny’. It’s certainly cringe-worthy funny and often laugh out loud funny. It suddenly got tiresome a couple of seasons ago; I think the writers just ran out of original and somewhat plausible ideas, and also that some of the actors became enamored of themselves. I gave up on it at that point.
I’ve found Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (on Netflix) to be an entertaining series of, well… murder mysteries. It’s an Australian production set in the 1920s. Cars, costumes, and sets seem to be authentic, which I enjoy.
Fine, let me rephrase…I just finished watching all the episodes currently available on Netflix.
Better?
I don’t like your tone of voice one bit.
Thanks to all who replied. I’ve got me some investigating to do now.
Two seasons of Chance are available on hulu. If Ethan Suplee as D doesn’t at least get nominated for an Emmy, there is no justice. Best character ever.
If you liked Broadchurch you’ll probably like The Fall (on Netflix).
Currently taking a break from the British shows. (Most recent “full” series was Line of Duty. The show that made “annoying wee gobshite” a term of endearment in our household.)
We do a show a night, a drama and a comedy. Right now we’re in the midst of Hill Street Blues and The Bob Newhart Show. The latter started off well but soon became very trite. Recycling old sitcom plots. Oh no, Bob has to get his tonsils removed! It’s going to be a slog finishing. Hill is still fairly decent but the stupidity about not ever naming the city forces too much weird dialogue, etc. Just call it “Springfield” and move on.
Looking forward to returning to the Brit dramas. Good grief, there are so many good ones.
My father is a devotee of Acorn TV on the Roku. Not just British but Australian, New Zealand, lately Scandinavia… I get home from work and he’s all “I’m watching this show from Norway…” “Acorn TV?” “Yep.”
Symbolist paintings and sculpture. In my books, and on the internets.
Max Klinger is the cat’s pajamas.
This may sound incredibly lame, but I liked The Lowe Files. It’s a typical “celebrity searches out the unexplained” reality show, probably only worth watching if you’re a Rob Lowe fan. He has a cool relationship with his sons and its clear they enjoy having adventures together. I wouldn’t mind going on a road trip with the three of them. Bonus points for using Don’t Fear The Reaper as a theme song.
I can’t really call it “bingeing”, because I only have time for one or two episodes a night, but I’m currently working my way through The Expanse. Hard scifi/noir. I like it, but there are quite few moments of, “What? …guess I’ll find out about that later.” Free on Amazon Prime.
For your zombie jones: Santa Clarita Diet is hilarious and weird
The Good Place is must see tv. Seriously, get busy.
Westworld and The Young Pope are both excellent
Better Call Saul is just brilliant, and better than Breaking Bad, imo. (You don’t necessarily need to have seen BB first to enjoy it)
I’m currently bingeing (thank you for including the ‘e’ by the way) Deadwood. I’m way late to the party, and I don’t know why I put it off. It’s really, really good.
Speaking of late to the party, I have the boxed set of The Wire DVDs I need to start in on. Unlike the Seinfeld set, these I need to sit and pay attention to, so I am gearing up for it. I predict full days of The Wire between Christmas and New Year’s.
I just have to know what all the fuss is about!
Watched three episodes of Glitch last night. I like it. It grabbed me right away, which I seem to require in my old age for a series to be bingeworthy . Jaded, I guess.
If this is the one with Dana Scully (heh) I did check it out awhile back, and it didn’t grab me at all. I know. Picky, picky, picky. I’m kind of a strange duck. I never made it through any of the Godfather movies, or a single James Bond. I couldn’t watch the Sopranos either. Spy movies, international intrigue and mafia themes don’t seem to interest me.
I recently finished season 1 of Wanted on Netflix. I’m taking a break before season 2, but I’m sure I’ll watch that too.
Just finishing the entire run of 30 Rock. God I miss that show.
Agreed about Santa Clarita Diet. Cracked me up. And since you’ve praised Better Call Saul so highly, I will give it another chance. What could be better than Breaking Bad?
A month ago SyFy channel had the entire run of Battlestar Galactica (2004) on-demand. I started watching and kicked myself for missing it when it first ran. I got through season one and most of season two before they pulled it, so I’m looking for another source for it. It was great to binge watch.
