Currently reading the Dexter Omnibus by Jeff Lindsay. I suspect that these are abridged versions of the books as they seem very short and there are jumps in the plot that don’t always make sense.
Also, there seems to be a more supernatural element to the books that is not present in the TV series. It is rare for me to say this, but this is one of those occasions where the TV programme is better than the book.
Normally if I read a book after seeing a film or tv series I get more out of it, in this case I got less, the characters and plot were better developed on TV and the end of season one was better done and more fleshed out than the end of Darkly Dreaming Dexter.
