^Yeah, I’ll miss Longmire. I haven’t started the final season yet.
I recently rewatched The OA. I still find it very compelling, even knowing how strange (well… stranger) it gets toward the end of the season. I like the ambiguity of the ending and the possibility (likelihood?) that Prairie is an unreliable narrator. Hopefully season 2 is not far away.
I watched the first episode over the weekend, and haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to watch more. It wasn’t uninteresting, but there was way more high school drama than I generally like. Does the HS crap lessen eventually?
The high school kids and the teacher remain a very important part of the story, but I definitely wouldn’t characterize the show as a high school drama. As the season progresses, we do learn more about the kids and who they are and the challenges they each face, but I think more time is spent showing what was happening with Prairie during the time she was missing. I’m not going to spoil anything, but as Prairie tells her story (and it is shown to us in flashback), things get kinda “out there.”
The high school kids and their drama are important to show us because these are all (the kids, the teacher, Prairie) sort of desperate, damaged people. If they weren’t, they might not go along with what happens.
Finished it. Definitely worth watching. A little hammy in places, and some of the strong female characters probably look a little too glamourous for their circumstances, but it’s a good show.
The Crown is back tonight, so we’ll be starting that. On my own, I’m watching Glitch, an Australian offering that’s about a few folks who return from the dead, not as the usual shambling brain-eaters, but normal in every way. It’s more of a mystery series, as they try to figure out why they have been brought back. It’s pretty good, so far.
The OA is terrible, and one of the few television shows that have actually made me angry. Usually it is pretty easy to avoid awful shows, but this one sucks you in by being quite well crafted and only dropping the off-the-deep-end turd later in the show.
