I would love to see pictures or know where you got your design/inspiration. I made pillowcase-type dresses for my daughters to wear as nightgowns last summer. I don’t mind the look in a nightgown, but I’d enjoy a pattern for a simple playdress that doesn’t look too “home made”.
FlyingRamenMonster, what about a slipped stitch edge? Just slip the first stitch of every row. It’s not fancy, but it’s tidy.
I’ve been working on my first knitting project, in probably 40 years … it’s a skullcap with roll-up brim. I picked out some multicolor, multi-texture Japanese yarn to die for: silk, wool, and something else exotic. Size 6 circular needles.
I’ve had to rip it out and start over three times. I’m now at the point of picking up the double-pointed needles and reducing the stitches down to nothing … hat will be DONE. I started it last October.
I’m going to look into the “Knifty Knitter” thingy. Thanks for the tip!
When I’m done weaving in the ends of this afghan, I’ll get to finishing the granny square shrug I started for myself last summer. All the pieces have been crocheted, I just have to figure out how to attach the sleeves without them buckling.
Then there’s the baby blanket(s) I’m making for Project Linus; the mesh shopping bags I have to add handles to and the amigurumi bunny to finish.
I just finished this model. It’s a fictitious tracked carrier (the Vickers Gomphothere Mk IV) built from a helicopter kit, as part of a challenge contest (“Here; do something cool with this”) held by the local hobby shop. Here are links to pictures of the final product:

Holy Mackerel!
A couple more:
The snow is microballoons and acrylic matte medium, mixed into a granular paste, then drybrushed with white and dusted with some prismatic sparkly makeup supplied by my daughter. The monster is brass wire, wound with string and coated with Elmer’s glue. The ruined city is plaster castings.
I’ve been putzing along on My First Sweater Vest and am nearing the armpit area. This means I will have to engage my brain again and read the pattern lest I hose myself.
I have a pair of baby mittens that look like mouses. All I have left are the ears.
I need to come up with something for a wedding at the end of May for my husband’s cousin. I refuse to buy them a gift ( she’s a Nurse/Anstesiologist ( whatever it is spelled.) and he is a Doctor, I think. (His second. Her first. Both are very well established in their careers.) Their gift registry is something from Greedy McSpoiled Brat .
I made a purse, more of a tote bag. It’s denim, with blue and white gingham ribbon trim, zipper closure, over-the-shoulder strap (I don’t know how to carry a purse without a long strap). (I once made a cute little clutch bag out of a crocheted placemat, but I’m afraid to use it as I’d probably leave it somewhere.)
Solfy, the dress I’m making is just a basic bodice with gathered skirt. I’ve cut the pillow case off at skirt length and cut the bodice out of the top half of the fabric. The bodice has buttons on the back. This way, I’ve maintained the integrity of the edging on the pillow case, but I get a more formal dress with it. I’m making it for a friend’s two year old (who’s very tiny) so I even have enough fabric for tiny little puff sleeves. I’ve given it an empire waist to keep the skirt the center of attention and bought a lovely pink ribbon for a sash to match the embroidery work on the pillowcase. I’d show you a picture, but I let a purse distract me, so the dress has been set aside for a couple of weeks and not quite done.
If you are making for older girls, you can buy muslin or a contrasting cotton broadcloth to make the bodice and sleeves.
