Whatever happened to Bill Gates?

I am the new Bill Gates.

You, my fantastically wealthy minions, remind me that this day is the anniversary of our world dominion, for this was the day I first made this post.

It was a simple plan.

If they make “legal” pot simulations, which are legal only in the slight variation from the exact sequence deemed illegal under current law, which, altered oh so slightly, make a new legal substance again, why not make exact pot simulations. Yeah, it might be illegal, but so is pot. This is better.

Why bother growing it? Replace the plantation with a beaker.

Why aren’t cartels doing this?

There is enough resident brain power on the board to make this happen.

(Just sayin’).

Higher profit, less risk, boutique, proprietary, patented genetic goodness. No pesky customs, just a discreet delivery system. What am I missing here?

I have no idea what the above poster just said. Anyone wanna clue me in?

My initial guess is he is doing it, right now. Whatever exactly it is.

There are currently multiple THC analogue drugs on the market. As fast as they are banned, new ones pop up. Names like K2 and Kronic and Spice. They are based on the work of a scientist at Clemson University quite a while back, the synthesizing of marijuana. This liquid is then applied to various herb type plants to produce a legal “pot”.

Are you really unaware of this? This is the equal of man made diamonds. The effect on the real marijuana market has caused prices to drop. Every time the DEA bans one analogue, they just switch to a different one.

Between manmade diamonds and real diamonds there is no difference, despite what diamond sellers want you to believe. The manmade ones are better.

So, why would the Mexican cartels still be growing and smuggling marijuana? Why not just legally import some herbs, synthesize the original analogue and “poof” instant marijuana, without all the trouble.

Plus, with a bit of fiddling about, create different “strains” Koko Loco or whatever, Pineapple Express, a whole slew of different name brand types. Plus, as I understand it, this liquid can simply be ingested without the nasty smoke. Reefer soda.

Is this the future? Because if it is, the guy who kicks it into high gear will be richer than God.

What is going on in this thread?

Oh stewardess, I speak nonsense.

It took me while to understand but he is interested in knowing why those bitches keep slugging dem big bags o’ weed cross de bodor when dey could be makin’ better shit in de lab. De good stuff. No portin, no nothin’. No sain’?

Soon as dem pigs close in, you slap another pot on the stove and change the recipe. Ain’t got nothin’ on you then. Pretty soon, you be drowing in Benjamins and spankin’ Bill Gates cross the de ass wit dem.

What slick don’t understand is dat de pigs will always be closin’ in on that hip hop. Momma’s cookbook only got so many good recipes and when de gone de gone. Smack wackem. Burn that book because the cook just lost his job.

Clear enough?

Oh, thanks, Shagnasty. Seriously, now I get the question. Answer: because they be making money right now, duh.

I think the question is why do it the complicated and expensive way when they could be making more money doing it the simple way.

If the question is “Why hasn’t synthetic replaced organic maijuana?” the answer is pretty simple. Synthetic is inferior. The high is much more jumpy, and sometimes leads to heart palpitations and other unpleasantness. There are growing ER reports of this, but I have no cite.

If anyone is interested, the usual suspect is JWH-018, but there are other synthetic cannabinoids derived from it. Another 18, at least. JWH refers to John W. Huffman, who is a chemist at Clemson. The research was not intended to produce recreational drugs, but these things get out there. What can you do?

You can buy JWH-xxx in pure chemical form at many online outlets, or buy it (and who-knows-what?) sprayed onto burnable organics, marketed as incense under brand names like Spice or K2.

I don’t think Bill Gates fits into any of this. I think the OP is all hopped up on K2.

Upon further contemplation, I think I may have misunderstood the question.

If the question is “Why are green flowery marijuana buds more popular than Dronabinol?” well, the answer is still pretty simple. It’s much easier and cheaper to produce THC by planting a seed in the ground or a hydroponic setup than it is to synthesize it in a lab.

Plus, many people like smoking weed.

But by producing it in the lab can’t be that tough or expensive. Look at the cottage industry doing it right now. No smuggling, no aerial surveillance.

You could produce the real, actual, illegal substance as a liquid, locally and at low cost.

Many of the complaints of the synthetics seem to stem from “hot spots”, giving an unintentional very high dose due to poor dispersion in the background plant material. That seems solvable.

Forgive my incoherence. Goodies, NasalCrom, Sudefed and Dayquil. And the flu.

Because stoners are lazy and it’s easier to grow plants in your closet than to set up a chemical lab.

I’m not so sure about that, are you? I don’t think that there is a cottage industry for Dronabinol production. Is there such an industry? There certainly is, or was for JWH, which just got put on a one year ban this past November, pending review by the DEA.

I’ve not heard of homebrew (chemically identical) synthetic THC before. This drug obviously exists as a pharmaceutical product (generic = Dronabinol), but I’ve never heard of it being marketed as a recreational drug. I’m willing to be wrong on this, so please educate me if I’ve missed something.

Also, the point I brought up before is valid. People like smoking weed, and ingesting it alters the effects. It changes, and increases the duration of the high.

I don’t know how difficult or expensive it is to produce synthetic TCH. But, I’m pretty sure that it’s not being done on any kind of large scale for the underground market. That leads me to believe that plants are easier and cheaper to produce, and appeal to a larger audience than a lab synthesized alternative.

Again, I’m willing to be wrong about this. But the laws of economics are fairly well on my side, near as I can tell.

Do you know why synthetic diamonds are equal to the naturally made ones?

Diamonds are made of one thing. Carbon. That’s it. One element. A little dab of heat, a few torques of pressure and bam. You have yourself a diamond!

OK. Now tell me the chemical composition of marijuana. Not just THC. Reproduce everything chemically about MJ. Now tell me what it is, at its core structure, that affects our brain the way that it does. How is this different in schwag vs purple haze vs maui wowie? Can this be 100% reproduced in a synthetic form that will affect the human brain in ways equal to or surpassing genuine marijuana?
I’ll save you time. The answer to this last question is no.

They are currently doing it the simple way. Add99 wants to do it the complicated and expensive way.

To the OP:

“Dave’s not here, man.”
