Or what about ‘Kennard’?
You know I collect things; some of them practical that I use, and some that I have for the sake of having. A Swiss army backpack is in the former category. An RAF Type B flying helmet is in the latter. I got some new boots, so out came the leather conditioner. (Out from the store, that is. I decided to use Red Wings conditioner instead of the mink oil I has on-hand.) As long as I have the conditioner out, I may as well pull out the old backpack and work some into it leather bottom and straps. And why not the helmet while I’m at it?
Several of my surplus things have names on them. The backpack once belonged to Erwin Bachmann, and there’s an address in Hedwingen. Above the address is what appears to be a serial number (xxx.xx.xxx.xxx) I wonder whatever happened to him? Is he still alive? How old is the pack, anyway?
As for the helmet, it’s simply marked with ‘KENNARD’ written in blue ink on the inside of each cheek.
Just random thoughts I have when I go through my stuff.
