I used to be a fan of Wendy’s hamburgers. They were as advertised… Hot n juicy.
For the past couple of years I’ve noticed their product becoming the opposite: cool and dry. Based upon my travels, it seems to be prevalent nationwide (US).
Just guessing that the juicy part was more beef fat, which means more calories. And now that they have to show calories on their food, that fact is less attractive.
The E. coli scare of the early '90s caused all fast food outlets to start over cooking their burger patties. This put an end to the Hot n Juicy burger.
I’m sure every girl named Wendy was relieved to see the end of that slogan.
Yes, I’ve noticed them being noticeably drier. I used to think they were as good as Whoppers but I rate them as a distant third in my burger preferences.
I agree with all of this. When I was a kid in the 80s, I loved Wendy’s. Now, of the big three, McDonald’s is and has been my favorite for at least a decade or two. Five Guys is much better, but at double the price point. I know everybody loves to slag off McD’s, but they are consistent and good to my tastes.
The last time I went there the grease still ate through the foil wrapper and soaked through 20 layers of napkins. That’s all their “juice” ever was to me.
Wendy’s were always my favorite fast food Hamburgers. I haven’t had them in a long time but they were always the best. I don’t think it’s fair to compare Five Guys to Wendy’s. Five Guys and Smash Burger are in between Fast Food and sit down restaurants. The same way that I wouldn’t compare Taco Bell with Chipotle or Qdoba.
shrug Not to me. Every time I go to Wendy’s and order a hamburger, I’m disappointed. I do like their spicy chicken, though. That’s what I get when I find myself there these days.
