Whatever happened to IT?

Wasn’t that supposed to “change the world?”

Whatever happened? Did I miss it?

It was a scooter, right?

No official confirmation that it’s a scooter yet. Apparently, it will be unveiled on Good Morning America this Monday:

As far as I know, IT will be unveiled in January or February. I think that most people have lost interest by now, and there’s no advertising for it, so there’s no more hype.

IT’s inventor holds a patent for a new kind of scooter, but that doesn’t mean it’s a scooter. I wouldn’t expect a scooter to change the world; would you?

There’s one very revealing quote on that site, from a Dr. Wise Young who has supposedly seen a prototype : “Dean’s two-wheel balancing device is really cool… It zooms around like lightning just by standing on it and leaning forward or backwards. The battery is the platform. Using it is totally intuitive. It will require reorganization of sidewalks because there will be people zooming all over cities with it.”

A battery-powered personal transporter that follows where you lean? I reckon it’ll be absolutely huge. Can’t bloody wait!

It became so successful that it was causing the airlines to lose too much money, so the government came and took them and told Mr. Garrison he’d be thrown in prison if he sold another one. Geez, don’t you people watch South Park?

I was actually just about to ask this question. Is it really going to be revealed on good morning america? I haven’t seen any ads. I would think, if it has so much impact, it would have its own special or something.

Uh huh. Professor Hill, anyone?

(If they want to get me to buy one, first of all they’re going to have to learn to spell segue correctly.)

Professor Hill?

I want one!
C’mon, it’s a pretty cool gadget.
Has anyone ran this by snopes?
Peace,
mangeorge

(Professor Harold Hill of “The Music Man”, proponent of the “think” method of musical instrument education.)

From that description I definitely want one, but will it be light enough for me to carry three flights up to my flat?

I do think it has the ability to make big changes to our cities, and changes for the better. If what Time says is correct.

Redboss

Full size picture of “it” in action just posted at http://www.drudge.com

astro, I believe this is the link you meant.

Well thanks, astro, but I looked at about half of the links and didn’t find a thing about this marvel.
Peace,
mangeorge

That’s better! I was going nuts over here trying to find it at astro’s link!

I sure hope something like this becomes popular. But no specific specs announced yet? It sounds like a heavy machine - it would have to be if it carries enough batteries for a decent range.

Umm, its one of those old ass push lawnmowers it took 100 million dollars to make it?

didnt they say it hovered?

what about affordability?

I read something today - supposed weight is approx. 65lbs, and expected initial cost, 3000$ (US, I’d assume). Not a cheap gadget, that’s for sure. And not practical to carry around/lock up like a bike. Yet. It’ll get there, though, you can be almost certain.

Oops! Sorry about that!
