whatever happened to the rounder and what i believe to be the original version of what is now, jim merricks robotman? i remember in the early eighties there was a cartoon and some videos, even a robotman doll. now the only thing i have is this faded cup bearing his face and those lovely bubble letters ‘robotman & friends’. (and to be honest, if i didn’t have it i’d think i was crazy since i seem to be the only one that remembers the guy.) so my question again - what ever happened to him?

Robotman still runs in the San Jose Mercury News. Typing ‘robotman’ into Yahoo gives a link to the robotman web page.
Oh yeah, wasn’t Jim Merrick the elephant man? Robotman the comic is done by Jim Meddick.
so is the jim meddick’s robotman simply an updated version of the much cuter, and rounder robotman? or is his a different robotman altogether?

and another thing… like i said before, there used to be videos, and toys, and all sorts of robotman stuff… maybe they don’t make it anymore, but that still doesn’t explain why it all disspeared and no one remembers… where the hell is robotman?
wasn’t john merrick the elephant man?

yes he sure was.
i love it when i’m corrected by people who make a mistake equivalant to my own. oh, it’s so much fun.

I remember Robotman! It was actually TWO comic strips; one in the early eighties, and the more recent incarnation. I have no idea if they’re by the same guy, the formats are quite different. There was no Monty, Robotman lived with a family, and the jokes were much cuter. I think there was a Saturday morning cartoon as well, a friend of mine worked for the marketing agency behind it all, there was even a record album. I seem to recall a chipmunk-y song '…I wanna be like Robotman", over and over until you want to put your head in a vise. Next time I see her I’ll have to ask about it. I think it just failed to catch on as a fad.
oh, yay! i’m so glad someone else remembers!
i kinda don’t think they’re by the same guy… but they look so much alike with jim meddick’s only being squarish. somebody said meddick doesn’t do much marketing… but then again you wouldn’t if you stole it. (not implying that he did because i have no idea)
i just wish i could find more info on the lovely little robot, oh how i miss him.
