"Whatever kills you doesn't make you stronger."

What about sickle cell anemia?! I’m joking, of course.

What is the context of that quote? I wonder if it means what we generally seem to think it means. In The Consolation of Philosophy the author describes Nietzsche as saying that we need to suffer hardship to reach goals, yadda, yadda, which would sort of nullify the sickle cell anemia remark since most people probably don’t have Going to Beat Malaria Even if it Cripples Me as a step toward making their lives into individual works of art.

You’ve got me curious, now. I may have to go to GQ. What has me even more curious is this: Over two thirds of all elections involving three or more candidates are decided not by the votes cast, but by the vote aggregation procedure chosen.

Or the old rhyme:

See a penny,
pick it up
and all day
you’ll have a penny.

Truer words have been spoken, but none truer than that.

Not to mention that Time Waits for Gnomon.

. . . which means, of course, that Time Waits for An Island. But we all gnu that. . .

Which just goes to show that wet birds don’t fly at night.

“I’m stuck between a hard place and a soft place”.

said by a friend, when another friend asked to borrow money.
