Whatever you’re looking for on the Web, ask here. My question: where’s a good online site for public domain texts? (NOT a book-ordering site like Amazon.com).
At the risk of sounding like a blooming idjit, what do you mean by “public domain texts”?
probably books you can download…there is some book project on the web, where you can though. What was it called? the graffenberg project of something…anyway try searching at ask.com
Also look at this weird way of getting to free book downloads: http://www.kamloopsbc.com/ucc/books/booksbb1mesg/28.html
Well, I’d like to know if there is a site where I could put Unix shell scripts for a cgi web page - also one that allows server side includes.
Without forcing me to have their ads on my page.
Why, you’re looking for Project Gutenberg, of course!

Simple as that.
The Public Domain refering to texts that the copyright has either lapsed on (not too many of those yet) or that a copyright has never been placed on, such as most of the classics.
I’m looking for a website that has Heather Bishop mp3’s, but I’m not going to find it.
Heheh…Graffenburg is the guy who “discovered” the g-spot. (Hence it’s name.)
“Wednesday the 15th - Chris made one of her rare good points today.”
Guanolad
Or you could try www.literature.org
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” - Anne Frank
Hey, that’s even simpler!
I’ll also suggest www.etext.org for more… unusual stuff…
I can’t believe I missed Graffenburg for crying out loud! I’ve got to read more slowly.
I have Library of The Future on cdrom. It has about 1000 books. Some are pretty short. But that’s another way to get some books cheap.
You could try The Online Books Page. I’m sure some of them are probably public domain.
