what's a metric crescent wrench?

Right by my apartment complex there’s a rental store that has a billboard with funny puns every month like “Get a Natural High, Rent a ladder.” Or something like that. I just noticed the billboard again and this month it’s “Special on Metric Crescent Wrenches.” Okay I don’t get it what’s the pun?

It’s really bothering me…Anyone get the joke?

Kinda lame but better than nothing.

OOOOOHHHH…
okay, hehhehheh
I guess you have to be a tool person to know that

A tool person. Why, I never…

Well, OK, I used to work plumbing & heating at Sears (yeah, there’s more for your life, etc., but never NEVER mention that “softer side” stuff to the tool person) right next to the hardware & tools. We had the mysterious crescent wrenches, along with the Swedish Fits-alls, grommel flanges and henways. Actually, they were Craftsman tools but they were metric, really. Said so right on em: 300mm. They were both but the henways were all English.

Metric is a kilogram, but an english henways about 2.2 pounds.

I currently own a “Left Handed” 300mm crescent wrench and a 12" standard (not “Left Handed”) Truth is there’s not much difference between the 12" and 300mm part of it. But the “Left Handed” bit comes from the little screw lookin thingie that opens and closes the jaws, it’s cut reverse on the leftie wrench <\\> vs. </////>

I still get confused…

I’ve got a metric oil filter wrench that I don’t need anymore (I traded in the import for a domestic). Maybe the store can sell it for me?

Oh, and a radiator cap for my '68 VW Bug…

No offense don’t ask… uh, I meant hardware literate person… yeah that’s it…

The proprietor of the page that don’t ask linked made a remarkable conversion error for a toolhead.

Same thing as a “steam bucket”, a “sky hook” or a roll of “fallopian tubing”.
