What's a non-vulgar way to say "this planet is totally f***ed"?

Why don’t you say: “People would rather condemn their children to live on a future Earth where the surface is less hospitable than Venus than have to wait 3 seconds for their light bulb to warm up to optimal brightness” and let the listener figure things out from there.

I was picturing this as being for a science fiction story or something, like someone on Alderaan looking up and saying “Why is that weird moon that recently appeared glowing so brightly? … oh, man, this planet is (insert replacement term[s] here)!”) Consider me another vote for “doomed.”

Thank you, everyone! I went with this one because it best fit the context. “Doomed” sounded a bit nut-jobby to me.

“Taxes will continue to rise as a means of transferring money from the lucky and competent to the perennially unlucky and incompetent. And in any case, we are all going to die.”

We’re in “one whole joojooflop situation”

How can you make such a vague, un-referenced statement sound professional?

Unless your profession is lying, like oil company PR rep, global climate change-denier politician, etc.

The statement is not the entire argument.

Thank you, Mr. Carlin.
