I’d like to bake something nice for my husband’s boss. This young man is from Wichita, and I thought I’d try to bake something that would be pleasant and homelike for a Wichita-ian who has relocated to Silicon Valley. I know that there may not be anything all that specific to his native city and region, but I thought I’d ask anyway.
Oh, and in addition, the young man is Polish - or his last name is, anyway.
Any ideas?
While not a dessert, any Kansan would enjoy a piping hot bierock.

I am a Kansan but not from Wichita, so I am far from an expert on Wichita desserts. However, much of Kansas was highly influenced by German immigration. With that and his Polish background in mind, a strudel might be well received.
May I suggest you call the public library and ask them for suggestions. Usually there is something published by a local group directly addressing meals and deserts for the local area. And the library usually knows.
Strudel is sounding very excellent. I’ve never made one, but I’m sure I can watch a how-to video.
