So, many times at work, some thread will go round, or people will be gathered around a single monitor, smiling and laughing. I take a look: there’s a photo of a cat wearing a santa claus hat or something.
wtf? I can’t even force a smile. This kind of thing.
Now, I like animals; I grew up in a house with lots of pets, and if I could keep a pet now, I would.
And some of the photos require good timing by the photographer and/or the animal has an eerily human expression. But still…I don’t get it.
Kittiesand puppiesarecute. Kitties, puppies, and other pets dressed in clothes or using the phone or holding a bottle of soda or something are doing something a bit out of their element, which often adds to the cuteness, though I will say that the cat in the frog hat looks less than pleased. The same effect works withkidstoo.
They make me laugh because I just KNOW that behind the pet’s bland expression, he’s thinking, “One of these days, I’m going to shit in their shoes for this.”
Sometimes the expression isn’t bland at all. Usually getting a cat will produce an extremely annoyed expression, but sometimes just dressing the cat up in a silly hat will do the trick, too.
Pay particular attention to the sixth cat. He used to be a nice kitty. Now, he has been scarred for life and is going to dedicate at least seven lives to shitting in shoes and pissing in beds.
Beats hell out of me. When people do things to annoy animals, for most of which I feel genuine warmth, the last thing I feel like doing is encouraging them.
People find it funny because it’s unexpected and cute. Usually, animals don’t do such apparently human things.
That other people find them funnier than you do isn’t really something that can or needs to be explained. Some people find some things funny, other people find other things funny.
