What's in your bar (i.e. what all booze do you possess?)

1 half bottle of Yellow Tail merlot. Not much of a drinker

4 bottles of beer leftover from parties.

3 bottles of Jose Cuervo margarita minis.

Me neither.

Oh man, no way can I remember all that’s shoved in as a lot’s either back in the rear or has been there for years. Then there’s the wines, dozens and dozens, we’re just letting mature. Let’s see…

Scotch:
Tamnavulin 24 yo ('78) by Signatory
Macallan 12 and CS
Highland Park
Lagavulin 16
Bunnahabhain
Glenfiddich Solara
Glenlivit French Oak
Bowmore 17
Abalour (sp?)
Balvinnie

Whiskey:
Wild Turkey
Jack Daniels
It’s one with a date for a name. 1792 or something.

Tequila:
Corazon
Herradura
Oro Azul
Commerativo
About 5 other real nice bottles, forget the names.

Gin:
Grey Goose
Tanqueray

Vodka:
Shustoff (sp?)

Rum:
Meyers
Bacardi

Liquers:
Baileys
St. Brendan’s
Sean’s
Something from Brazil or Spain made from oranges.
Grand Marnier
Something blueberryish, looks like a globe… Chandom?

Cabs:
Silver Oak, Napa & Alexander
Cakebread
Estancia Meritage
Caymus
Corrazon (sp?)
14 Hands
Ridge
Etc, etc, etc…

Assorted:
Two cases of Menage a Trois, random Chardonneys, Merlots, Pino Grigios, Ports, and Champagnes.
…oh, and two beers for making bread.

Half a big bottle of Jameson’s Irish Whisky.

About 2/3 of a small bottle of Dalmore Single Malt.

Some red wine of South African origin whose further detail escape recollection at the moment. Maybe a handful of glasses worth.

I guess I still haven’t quite transitioned from the young “booze at home for no particular reason means you’re an alkie” stage to the grown-up “booze at home for no particular reason means you have some when an occasion presents itself” stage.

1 bottle of Old Benson Austalian port
1 bottle of Sailor Jerry rum
1 bottle of Wyborowa Vodka
1 nearly full two-year old bottle of Fernet-Branca (wretched stuff)

About half a case of Natural Light, give or take a few cans.

I’m too lazy to go write them all down, so here: http://pics.livejournal.com/opalcat/pic/000a39pw

That’s mostly my boyfriend’s stuff, though. I brought maybe 10 bottles of stuff when we moved in together. There’s also beer (his) in the fridge and wine (mine) not shown.

Right now all I have is some brandy.

I would like to have:
Hefeweizen (sp?)
Carlsberg
peach schnappes
Cuervo margaritas
Chardonnay

For a while, I had the habit of reading or hearing about a drink, deciding I needed to try it, buying the ingredients for it, then making it.
Once.
Maybe twice. And then, I’d be done with whatever that was, and a month or three later, do it again.

I’d also tend to forget what I already had at home.

The end result is that I have a reasonably decent bar that I almost never use. I also just moved from one place that had incredible storage in which I could put everything needing to find furniture for alcohol, which is really hard to do.

I don’t drink liquor all that often, but if I’m in the mood for some weirdo mixed drink, it is nice to know that we probably have the stuff to make it. The vast majority of my alcohol consumption is in the form of a glass of wine with dinner. Cheap wine. Really cheap wine, actually, but I like it.

About ten bottles of wine that I’ve been given for talking at various seminars and conferences. I never actually buy any alcohol myself.

Since we moved in July to an actual house that grownups would live in we’ll have to be saying bye bye to my old friend Mr. Hinged Barrel bar. It’s being donated to my future BIL who’s a sophmore in college, just like I was when I got Ol’ Hingy.

It’s being replaced with two of these bookshelves from Crate and Barrel that lean against the wall so that they don’t take up much in the way of floor space, but still give me room to have a nifty, if somewhat unconventional bar. The bars that they sell at the stools and pool table stores are nice, but can run into the mid four figures pretty quickly. This will be able to have a mixed use (at least as I’m seeing it) where it can work as a plant stand / bar / knick knack display. I’m pretty excited to get started really.

I need to take stock anyway. I have half-bottles or so of:
Cuervo Especial
Tanqueray
Bombay Sapphire
Bacardi (white)
Captain Morgan Parrot Bay
Knob Creek
Maker’s Mark (almost out there–gotta stock up)
Elijah Craig 18yo
Finlandia vodka
Smirnoff Vanilla
creme de menthe (green)
creme de cassis
amaretto
Pumpkin Spice Liqueur
vermouth
Licor 43
a half-pint of Southern Comfort

Also probably a dozen bottles of wine and something on the order of 50 beers.

Bourbon
Rock Hill Farms
Wild Turkey 101
Elmer T. Lee
George T. Stagg
Pappy Van Winkle 15yr
Noah’s Mill

Scotch
Bowmore Darkest
Oban
Deanston 12yr

Rum
Cruzan Single Barrel
Bacardi Silver

Tequila
Don Eduardo Reposado
Sauza Hornitos
Don Crispin Reposado

Gin
Citadelle
Beefeater

Vodka
Absolut
Skyy
Smirnoff Vanilla

Brandy
E&J VSOP
A cheap bottle of cherry brandy whose name isn’t worth moving everything else in front of it in order to read.

Wine
About 100 bottles. Mostly California Cabs & Zins, Bordeaux & Rhone Valley

Beer
Maybe a dozen, currently. Some Guinness.

Misc
Vermouth (dry and sweet (cheap))
Amaretto (I’m sure the highest quality available in a plastic bottle)

Bitters
Angostura

I’m a student so it’s pretty much cheap as possible.

1.75 L Cheap vodka (Gordon’s)
Near empty Smirnoff vodka
1.75 L Cheap gin
Near empty Seagram’s gin
1.75 L Jim Beam bourbon

Near empty Sauza tequilla (and I don’t even like tequilla)
Half empty 1.75 L Kahlua

Half dozen bottles of wine

a blood mary mix of equally unknown origin

10 bottles of unassuming reds and whites
1 bottle of Coppola merlot i’m saving for a special occasion
assorted exotic beers like ginger and pumpkin that came to the party
bud light (i wouldn’t drink that stuff on a bet)
several blue moon
several woodchuck ciders
i thought i still had a bottle of bailey’s old enough to evolved language skills, but apparently i came to my senses and discarded it.
absolute in the freezer

horrors. i just realized i don’t have a decent scotch in the house! :stuck_out_tongue:

On the bar right now:

An enormous thing of Jose Cuervo Especial
A nearly full bottle of Trump Vodka
Small bottle of Cointreau
Nearly full bottle of Molinari Sambuca
Nearly full bottle of Maker’s Mark

I don’t drink many mixed drinks, but I do rip through the wine, so that’s really where I like to have a nice assortment to accompany dinner or just quench my thirst.

The wine racks hold 80 bottles and are currently full, plus a couple of cases stacked in a corner, and a couple of bottles in the fridge. Red, white, pink, sweet, fortified, sparkling, you name it. Less than 10 of those are being saved for special occasions or to allow a little more bottle age. About 20 bottles are a Zinfandel my husband and I made last year. There’s another 20 gallons or so of Cab Sauv in carboys in the garage.

There’s also at least a couple of cases of a coffee stout we brewed a couple of months ago in there somewhere.
And there are usually 2 small kegs in the kegerator, usually IPAs from local breweries (Lagunitas, Third Street, Bear Republic, Sierra Nevada, etc.) but I’m pretty sure we tapped one over the weekend. Not sure which one is still going.
