What's in your smoothie?

I’m an unabashed Jamba Juice fan. I like nothing better than a smoothie for breakfast or lunch.

My favorite: the Cranberry Craze, which is cranberry juice, raspberry sherbet, strawberries, nonfat yogurt, blueberries, and ice. Except I have them swap in lime sherbet for the raspberry, because I don’t like raspberry sherbet. Sometimes I choose orange sherbet instead of lime. Yes, I like things tart.

What smoothie’s your favorite, from Jamba or elsewhere?

homemade, every time.

Frozen berries (all kinds), fresh oj, a banana, and any other fruity-yogurty thing I may have lying around.

I like the occasional Cranberry Craze myself but I usually get the Caribbean Passion. Delicious! Always with femme boost, and if I have been weight training that day I spring for the extra buck or whatever it is for the glucosamine/chondroitin boost. Usually get a power size and that is my main meal for the day.

If you make 'em yourself, forget the ice: just use sliced & then frozen bananas.

Much more better.

Bamix is our friend!
Ice, oj and orange sherbet
ice and grape juice

Spirutein (soy protein powder), 1% milk, frozen fruit, and a little ice. I especially like to use frozen strawberries and blueberries…yum!

The local coffee shop makes the best smoothies. All that’s in it are frozen strawberries, a banana, and orange juice.

I do make smoothies at home, but I don’t like them as much – the consistency is runnier than Jamba’s. More importantly, I hate cleaning the blender.

You could probably make your smoothie a little thicker if you put ice in it.
But I’m totally with you on the blender thing.

Peach, bananna, pineapple juice, and ice.

If I’m using the “real” blender, I always rinse it out immediately after I’m done. Then when you go to wash it you don’t have to contend with cemented-on fruit bits. But I only do that when I’m making more than one smoothie, one for me and one for Mr. Fries.

If I’m just making one, I use a stick blender, which is one of those kitchen gadgets I put off getting for a long time, and now cannot live without. It’s very quick to clean.

Anyway, in my smoothie: plain non-fat yogurt, a banana, and some frozen fruit. My favorite is mango and strawberry. (If you like tart, that’s where it’s at!) Non-homemade smoothies are too runny and too sweet for me.

Plain or vanilla non-fat yoghurt
1-2 frozen bananas
Orange or cranberry juice
Frozen fruit: some combination of blueberries, strawberries, mango, raspberries or “ice cubes” made out of jarred/canned tropical fruits.

Mmmm!

There’s also a place a couple blocks away that makes smoothies, as well as several local coffeeshops. But, honestly, since I discovered how easy they are to make (and I just rinse the blender and stick it in the dishwasher), I mainly have the homemade variety.

Love smoothies. Hate bananas with a deep and abiding passion – to the point of actual gagging.

But when we had a local Jamba at the student union on campus, I used to get Pacific Passion without bananas and with protein powder. When I was sick, I swore by the Coldbuster.

I wonder if Jamba still makes these?

Frozen raspberries, frozen strawberries, a frozen bannana (peal the buggers first), cranapple juice, and dark rum.

Why are you people forgetting the rum?

I use 4oz of OJ, one banana and blend. I then add as many frozen strawberries as needed to fill my cup of choice. The strawberries make it nice and thick without “watering it down” with ice.

As far as cleaning, I rinse it out immediately using hot water. This is usually sufficient to clean it up fine. If I use any dairy, I’ll resort to the soap and water routine. It also gets run through the dishwasher about once a week, so no worries about hidden crud building up.
