Ooh, yes, you’re right. In my defence, Wobuffet was introduced after I mostly stopped watching the cartoon, so I’ve never seen it doing that, but I should have remembered Misty’s Psyduck’s tendency to pop out at random inconvenient times.

Because the Pokemon appear to be sapient. So, it’s thinly disguised, animated, gladiatorial combat, overseen by barely pubescent children who wander the countryside unsupervised to pit their pokemon against each other.

Does anyone remember that from one version of the games, you could make Pokeballs out of Apricorns. So it might just be the inside of a nut in there.
