What's it like to pick up dog poo?

Along the beach here they have plastic bags to pick up dog poo. But I do not have a pet to test this out. I can only imagine though. So what’s it like? Hmmm aha?

Try shitting on the carpet.

When you clean it up, if you do that sort of thing, you should have a fair approximation.

No huge prob, actually. Tuck a few small plastic bags in your pocket…baggies, if ya wanna get upscale, or I use the plastic sleeves the newspaper’s delivered in when it rains. (Recycling, doncha know.)

Shove you hand into the bag so it turns inside out, pick up the poop then snap the bag right-side out and seal/knot. Your hand never touches it and you have a neat, tidy packet ready to throw away.

No fuss, no muss and no big deal.

I guess that’s why your username is “handy.”

I do the same thing as TVeblen…it’s no big deal. It is a little ickier & squishier if you feed cheap nasty dog food, though. (I don’t.)

I encourage my old dog to poop right next to a trash can in the local park…she is pretty good about that. The puppy is getting better.

I find chanding diapers way more stinky & messy. Plus you have to clean & powder their little bottoms. I don’t do that for my dogs.

I have a cat. It’s poo is like a dog’s except smaller. I’ve become familiar with its consistency since my cat is pissed at me and has left me “nuggets” to express her disapproval with something.

Most likely that it’s hot.

Next time you are at the beach and you see some hot stud or sexy babe walking their dog, wait for the dog to pop a squat, then ask the owner if you could do the honors. I’m sure they won’t deny you the splendor you’ve been curiously anticipating, unless they have a serious scat fetish.

It feels like, hot, moist clay. Except a bit on the softer side of clay, depending on the health of the dog.

Don’t offer to clean up for a small toy dog, wait for a bigger dog, so you can experience the full sensation. While your walking to the trash can, stop for a moment and squish it through your fingers to maximize the effect.

Cheers!

Depends what you feed them. Bailey’s poops tend to be relatively solid, with two or three logs, so it’s not like I’m picking up a gooey mass – like what I’ve seen come out of the poop chutes of many other dogs. I use the plastic shopping bag technique – you’ll often see milk jugs filled with bags in areas where serious dog owners congregate. Feels strange at first, but you get used to it.

At a dog park, owners will seriously discuss brands and types of dog foods, and the effect they have on the texture and consistency of their poop.

It’s really fun to pick up dog poo… 'specially the part where you chuck it at random passerby…

I don’t worry about picking up dog doo - I have a daughter - it’s on her chore list… she uses a trowel…

i saw i guy who had his dog timed. he would wait and at the perfect moment he would slip a bit of newspaper under the dog. dog would go, he would pick up the paper and fold, fold, into the bag. poetry in motion.

rocking chair, there is a local guy & he has these huge canines & a lot of them, he brings a bucket & when they bend over, he just sticks that under their butt.

But … but … but, cats are supposed to like the heat! They evolved in the Egyptian desert, and stuff.

Apparently my cat has gone past that stage. She is a predator and she needs to rest up for her next kill. When it’s hot, she rests more. As in about 20-22 hours a day.
