The first name I thought of was Domino…don’t ask me why…he looks like such a sweetie, though!

What is the name the dog came with? It’s gonna be a pain to change it and he’s gonna be confused for a while 
(I did change my puppy’s name, though - he was Brownie at first and we changed it to Sammy.)
Shiner. My Australian Shepherd pupppy’s litter name was Shiner because of an eye patch like that. My wife hated the name and I lost. So ‘Shiner’. Or Booger, just because.
He looks like a Joker or a Jester to me.
In the spirit of all things Steve Miller, I humbly submit that this dog’s new name should be The Pompatus Of Love, or Pomp for short.

My folks had a border collie that looked almost like your dog diggerwam. Buddy was one of the best dogs evah, so I suggest Buddy.

Border collies are smart. So going with that trait, I’d suggest “Einstein” or maybe “Albert” if you want to be a little less obvious.
Watch for the herding instinct to come out. An old roommate of mine had a border collie that tried to herd ants.
Just don’t call him John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
