What's next for the pro-insurrectionists?

This link was posting in another thread, but its a good read for this thread as well
Im hoping enough career workers will step up and start treating the insurrectionists as the true threat they are
You Woke the Leviathan

What precedent? No civil liberties I know of have been lost.

Nobody has a right to have a private party publish any shit, never has. Not when cranks wrote letters to the editor on paper and not now.

It’s a free market and should the neo-Confederates want to set up their own platform and hosting, nothing but resources stop them, just like nothing but resources stops the Commie Left either…

Yes, but what kind of “civil war” gentlemen?

It can be bad and deadly, but I do think that it will be as a lot of what was seen coming from this administration, just as there was Stupid Watergate, this is looking as the Stupid Civil War. It can be deadly, but not as deadly as it can be if their insurrection members were smarter, it is more likely that prompt arrests and disgrace will happen a lot in the next days (and everyone should remind constantly to the politicians that support sedition that they are also disgraced.)

Georgia man Georgia dies in Georgia.

Well, that’s one trial taxpayers don’t have to foot.

The problem is, the Stupid Civil Warriors are providing a lot of cover for those in the crowd who aren’t stupid. It’s those guys who could cause some real damage. Sure, most of these guys are just Gravy Seal LARPers, but some of them are people like the Oathkeepers - former military dedicated to this cause, and with the skills and the will to do real damage.

We’ve seen far too many times how much damage a lone gunman can cause in a short period of time. Imagine if, instead, it was a small team of these guys, using hit-and-run tactics. Find a soft target, get in, a short burst of massive violence, and then a planned escape route to allow them to get away and do it again.

Reading a dense MIT published study not about Trump per se but about what happens when terrorist groups are subject to “leadership decapitation”.

The author purports to show that removing leaders of violent clandestine groups, whether by arrest or assassination, has a statistically verifiable marked effect, at least for some years. This is because such groups usually lack trained subordinates to replace them (partly because these people are always a threat to the typically quite paranoid leader), and because they most typically lead via charisma, which is hard to duplicate.

The study also shows that this destructive effect on terrorist groups is most marked in countries with higher GDPs, because the resources to marshal defenses against them are that much greater.

Interesting but as I say, dense piece of work and since I have a headache I have so far only skimmed it.

I see that, but smarter ones do know that they will have success possibly if the support was there, latest polls show that support for trump and sedicionists is dropping even more.

Under those conditions I do remember the moment groups like that do fall is when they make the mistake of thinking that they have the support of the majority and act on that mistaken assumption. Smarter ones though will continue to wait for the right conditions. Hence the need to also remind the seditionist supporters in government to drop it or else lose support, not just from the rank and file, but from the ones that count. Wealthy contributors that do know that the gig is up.

I and my Fellow Travelers do not appreciate such slurs.

Are you a Communist? If not what the hell is the “slur”… I didn’t say all the Left are Commies, if that’s your comprehension, I said the Commie Left.

My thinking is that the insurrectionists will be diminished in number when they cause enough collateral damage among their supporters to the point where they finally turn against them. Unfortunately this will mean that we would see some OKC events or mass shootings which hurt or kill enough people to make a lot of would-be supporters re-evaluate their opinions regarding their methods. I don’t even want to consider how much bloodshed would be needed before we arrive at that tipping point.

I think the joke was that as a Commie or a Fellow Traveler he didn’t care for being compared to Neo-Confederates.

In the early 1990s, IRA bombings resulted in many accusations and finger-pointing from both sides and little progress. In 1998, when the peace process was well underway, the Omagh bombing horrified everyone who was tired of violence, and marginalized the remaining agitators. I’m afraid we’re closer to the early 1990s than 1998 right now.

Ahhh… if that’s it whooshed, sorry…

I’m afraid you may be right.

Me too

The Patriots will surround the capitol. Army and National Guard will march close file between them and the building. At a prearranged signal the troops bring their arms forward and, en masse, throw down their helmets, don MAGA hats, and lead the cheering crowd into the capitol.

You jest, but I know a dude on facebook who pretty much believes exactly this is going to happen.

or Conservative Rebellion Action Pact (CRAP)…

Anybody who understands that one purpose of guns is for self-defense.

They really need to double amp up their investigation of politicians, law enforcement and military personnel (retired and active duty) who are involved in white nationalist domestic terror organizations.

Joe Blow down the street yelling at his TV is one thing. Trained cops and soldiers working with politicians who have inside information is another.
