What's on your key chain?

The keychain or the Pope?

Two keys (house, dorm room) and a USB stick.

Five door keys
A key that I don’t remember what it opens
A flash drive thingy
An LED light and bottle opener karabiner-looking like thing.

my drive-by post:

I have
*3 houskeys on one ring (different doors)
*2 work keys
*1 car key (operates both the ignition and locks)
*2-sided token with Mario hologram on one side, Nintendo Power’s Super Power Club (c. 1994) logo on the other; a giveaway for regular subscriber’s to Nintendo’s official gaming news magazin from back when it was good (no reviews, no advertisements; just early information, and plenty of strategy)
*steel Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex keychain (with Laughing Man logo engraved on one side, and a decal featuring main character Motoko Kusanagi in full-body SWAT gear, and a tachikoma think-tank in action poses on the other).
*And an S-Bahn keychain because I’m of German decent, my dad works in the railroad business, and it’s unusual

Car Key
Car KeyFob
House Key
mini Library Card

-Car key with a bone-shaped dog collar tag engraved ‘no smoking in this vehicle thank you’ (legacy from the days when I had to occasionally lend out my car to colleagues)
-House front door key
-Work front door keys (2 different locks on the same door)
-Fireproof safe key
-1GB USB flash memory drive
-Laser pointer
-UV LED mini light
-Swisstech Utili-Key (http://www.latestbuy.com.au/utility_key_gadget.html)
-Swisstech Multi-Tool (http://www.shushhh.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=284)

Oh! I forgot:
-I don’t have the car key on right now (my car just got totaled in an accident :frowning: )
-the house keys are on one ring, the work keys are on a ring with the Mario hologram keychain
-All my keys, etc., are on one of those mountain-climbing clip-thingies (hell if I know what they’re called), that I attach to a belt-loop via a long chain that lets me discretely (and securely) keep them in my pocket.
-I also have a ring with a 50-Yen coin and a little device that projects a blue square of light with a silhouette of the Nintendo (in oval) logo that I got at PAX 2005 from the Nintendo booth; but this ring is temporarily off the chain because the ring itself needs to be replaced

HSKnuckles, I want your key-chain.
(GITS fan-girl)

I have three (4 technically) key rings.

One is a work ring and has keys for:

Electronic locks
Key machine
Key box
Paper towel dispensers
Janitor closet/fitness room/hot tub room
Kitchen/front office/pump room/paint room
Shop
Model
Pool gate
Golf cart
Garage remote
Two has keys for:

Shop (different shop key)
Shop office
Construction locks
Shop (gotta remember to throw this one out)
Three has:

Car
Apartment
Mailbox
Toolbox padlock
Parents’ apartment
Four is my misc. crap ring. It’s got at least 20 keys on it, from fire cabinets to broken work trucks to I-don’t-know-but-we-might-need-it-someday-IF-we-find-out-what-it-opens. Most fall into the latter option.

Well, I found it while searching for the DVDs on Amazon. I’m under the impression quite a lot were made for sale in Japan, and it’s pretty cheap to get an imported one. I don’t think you should have to much trouble finding it if you do a search.

Starting with a blue carbiner, there is one ring with the catmobile alarm control, and then a gunsight snap mount which is hard to describe, other than to say it has three holes on each end through which you can insert split rings. Separating the two halves of the gunsight mount is easy-lateral pressure makes it snap apart. Pull on it in linear manner for all you’re worth, and it won’t separate.

One ring on the top half holds a AAA maglite flashlight. The other ring holds discount cards for 2 supermarkets, truck, house, garage, shed, and buddy’s house keys.

Bottom half is split between two rings: Firehouse ring carries building master, key box , alarm system, fire file cabinets, archive cabinet, tool box, building generator, transfer switch control, electrical cabinet, night deposit and night deposit bag keys.

Second ring has second catmobile, trailer tongue lock, file cabinets, thermostat cover, and hydronic heating vent keys.

keys to my domicile

keys to my desk at work

keys to my mother’s house

keys to my synagogue (main entry door, gates to parking lots (one of which we no longer use) (Not even sure if either of them still works, as I haven’t had to use them in a couple of years.)

keys to my old apartment (main entry door and specific apartment–probably no longer work, as I’m guessing that at least the apartment lock would’ve been changed after I moved out) (Why do I still have these?!)

keys to my mother’s house before she got new doors (Why do I sill have these?!)

key to my former employer’s buses (door, luggage bays, inside storage compartments) from when I drove motorcoaches (haven’t driven a bus in two years, but I have no intention of taking one of their coaches for a joyride)

key to my former on-campus mailbox in the student center

key to my mailbox at the apartment in Philadelphia where I lived until six years ago (no need to turn in when I moved, as mailboxes were discarded and replaced with much nicer ones while I still lived there)

key to a bike lock (that I still have but no longer use b/c I no longer have a bicycle and can’t afford one right now–damn)

key to a footlocker (that I never lock–contains nothing more important than linens)

key to the lock for my suitcase (I always lock my bag when I fly; so far, thank goodness, the TSA hasn’t seen fit to open it)

key to some security straps that I bought in Switzerland that I used to wrap around my suitcase (I no longer use that bag–not for travel, anyway–or the straps)

keys to stuff that I don’t remember (but they’re mostly very small and thin, so probably for various tiny luggage locks), and am VERY sure I’d never use again (Why the HELL do I hold onto these things?!)

1 mini Mag-Lite

3 of those plastic tags with bar codes that you use at supermarkets

Occasionally, 1 big Swiss Army Knife (engraved w/my name) that was given to me by my then-husband (depends on if I need it).

So, that’s 34 keys, only 10 of which I’ll ever really need to use. Yep, I know I have a problem and that I need to dump some of this shit. Consider it considered.

Since I’m a dude and, therefore, like most guys, don’t carry a purse, I keep my keys clipped to my belt loop, but they’re on little cascading metal rings, so they don’t bunch up in my pants pocket as badly as one might imagine. Still, I really oughta do something about this.

Keys to:

  • the front door of my house
  • my garage door
  • my office
  • my cars.
There’s also a small customer i.d. card from the CVS store chain hanging among the keys. Everything is on a ring decorated with an enamelled disk that says “Baden Powell House, London.”

my work key
house key - top lock
house key - bottom lock
the outer ring of a skate bearing
the key ring itself

I like to keep things minimalistic.

I haven’t been driving much lately so my car key is not currently on the keychain.

I have Keys for:
Friends House
Filing Cabinet at work
Caravan
Mustang Ignition
Mustang Trunk
Computer (door on the front of the case, useless)

Also on the ring
My security token
Library card
Keith Urban monkey

House key
Truck key
Classroom key
Main Gate key
Mailbox key
Storage Unit key
Tool Box key
Threaded cotterpin from a 14’ Hobie

I like to travel light. My keyring contains:

  • Key for motorcycle.
  • Key for top box on said motorcycle.
  • A small (~1" dia) LED flashlight.

The fob itself is a rubber Peking Opera mask of the Monkey King (a famous mythological character).

Keys to home
Yuengling beer bottle opener. I’ve had it for eight years; long enough that Yuengling’s logo has worn off. Won it as a spot prize in Quizo (the local bar trivia game).

8 keys - 3 home, 2 cars, 3 work. Really cool miniature fly reel made from bar stock aluminum that actually works.

Ummm…

I just cleaned out my keychains yesterday so that I could ‘streamline’.

I have:

Car key
Keyless entry fob
House key
Work keys
Key to my parents’ house
Keychain that my company puts our for one of our fundraising events
Ukrops’ club card (local hometown grocery store in my parents’ town)
Giant Eagle club card (supermarket)
Acme club card (supermarket)
Raisin Rack club card (health food store in Ohio)

I got rid of about 5 club/membership cards I didn’t need, and four keychains.
