What's on your mental jukebox *right now*?

Fugue for the Tinhorns from Guys and Dolls:

I’ve got a horse right here,
The name is Paul Revere
And here’s a guy that says that the weather’s clear
Can do, can do, this guy says the horse can do
If he says the horse can do, can do, can do.

I have no idea why, the only thing I can come up with is all the recent coverage of the Queen at the Kentucky Derby. Maybe my brain is having fun with the idea that she broke out into song while placing her bets.

Or not.

Well, now that I’ve read the thread, it’s a duel between “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “Mahna Mahna”. The “do” parts of the latter blend surprisingly well with the synthesizer in the former.

Probably because I wanted to submit it to the other thread about “what song most represents the 70s” but never did, for the past few days the song More More More has been running through my head.

How do you like it, how do you like it
Ooooh… How do you like your love?

Aaaggh!

For some reason I have that “I’m Tired” song from Blazing Saddles in my head.

“Original of the Species” by U2.
And, quite unfortunately: “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?” (Yes, the damn tv show theme song.)

Everybody come and play!
Throw every last care away!
Let’s go to the mall!

Today!

Abba’s Dancing Queen.

Hunk-a Hunk-a Burnin’ Love.

Like a hunk-a hunk-a burnin’ love
Like a hunk-a hunk-a burnin’ love
Burnin’ Love

(Please, someone, kill me …)

Because I walk the girls to the bus stop every morning, and because it’s 9 AM, and because I always sing the same two lines when we hear the rumble, I have:

“I hear the bus a-comin’
Comin’ 'round the bend”

An instrumental: Bittersweet Samba by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. No idea why.

I saw the Derek Trucks Band put on a great show last night, but the song in my head is a cover of Try a Little Tenderness by the opening act, Sam Taylor.

“Modern Love” - Bowie!

I’m seeing them in Princeton on the 23rd! W00t!

Thank you for replacing “Mahna Mahna” in my brain.

And of course I’m now going to need some help getting rid of Bowie.

sticks on Buzzcocks very loud

Sneaking in the back door with your dirty magazines, your mother wants to know …

Those Were the Days, Mary Hopkins.

Good work. I’m catching them again for my birthday next weekend. They added some things that I really liked, and Tyler had a great time too.

“What Does It Take To Win Your Love” by Junior Walker & The All-Stars.

“Wuthering Heights” by Kate Bush. I heard it on a local radio station last week for the first time, and it’s been in my head ever since. I don’t mind, though - it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.

“Penny Lane” by the Beatles. I’m singing it (as part of an ensemble) for a show, and we had rehearsal this morning, so…
