I dabble in video editing, and have primarily used Canon GL-2 and XL-1 miniDV cameras. I’d like to go ahead and purchase an affordable DV camera - something on the consumer level, 1 CCD, but I’d like to get the best bang for my buck.
The other day, I used a friend’s sony handycam and was surprised by the great quality picture I got out of it. I didn’t catch the model number, and he said it was “about $1,200.” For that much, I’d just go ahead and buy a three chip camera like a Gl-2 for a little more.
So what’s a great sub-$1,000 1 CCD DV camera?
