I’m a sucker for bears, I guess, and give them to every niece and nephew.
Just got one that had a hat and lederhosen so he looked like an extra from “Heidi”.
Then I got one that was Safeway’s grocery special, a forest ranger of some stripe.
I’ve only ever had one Teddy Bear and it was (gasp!!) **naked **. In fact looking around my house, my Tazmanian Devil, The Brain, Opus, Bill the Cat, for that matter my 10 or so other cat dolls, Dogbert and Scooby Doo and ***ALL NAKED ***. In fact only Dilbert, the Pointy Haired Boss and Marvin the Martian have cloths on. And Marvin’s wearing this short sexy skirt.
I’m apperantly living in some kind of den of immorality. So do you still want my opinion?
You just made me consider the Pointy Haired Boss naked, and it put me off my feed. I’m going to take an aspirin and hope somebody else has a better bear story.

Cop. My Mom and Step-dad (a cop) collect bears, so they’ve been given several that are dressed as policemen.

Ladybug. I have a Beanie Baby bear dressed like a Ladybug. When I inherited my black lab she was already named Ladybug, so I started collecting ladybugs then. (No, I’m not a Beanie collector.)
I made one up once for a charity auction for an “Old Town”-type 1890’s museum.
I put on a trolley motorman’s uniform, like the ones the costumed guides wore, with metal buttons and a cap with metalic braid.
It was quite a conversation piece that day.
Actually most of my teddies are naked too… maybe I ought to make a vest for my Koala?
I got a chief petty officer bear for my son.
I’ve always had my eye on one I pass a lot with a fireman’s slicker, but I doubt I’ll ever buy it. Too many things to dust now, if I did dust.
The thing that seems wrong is bears in dresses. I guess it’s the facial hair that makes them all look like drag queens.
Well…
Most of my bears are naked.
However, I have the following “clothed” bears:
- A D&D fighter-type bear (no kidding; little sword and a black&green cloak & everything). This is absolutely my favorite bear; it’s from the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, and was a special-order created for me by my best friend with their help.
- A bear wearing a chainmail bikini. This is the most recent addition to my collection.
- A ringmaster bear, tophat and all.
- Two jester bears.
But I think the best outfit is probably none at all; bears with clothes are awfully hard to cuddle…
When Mr. Rilch and I go back to Vegas, we’ll go on Star Trek the Experience again, then we’ll stop in the gift shop and get the Borg teddy. It’ll be interesting to see how he interacts with the other animals!
For practical reasons, you can’t beat the one we got wearing flannel pajamas and a nightcap.
When it’s time for bed we say the bear is sleepy.
