I don’t have a website yet. I’m talking a site, not blog. Are the ‘free’ ones really free, and which one is best?
Well come on now- I’ve already started using Tripod’s today. Can someone throw me a friggin bone here? You could tell me where to download a free copy of the software you have to buy for the better website maker than the free ones, even.
I’ve had a Geocities site for years. It’s totally free, but they have the ad banners down the right side of the page. You can check out their free web hosting service here: http://geocities.yahoo.com/
And my site is http://www.geocities.com/bigbadvoodoolou , all hand-coded with HTML. Simple, but effective.
Ok so let me get this straight, you’re looking for a free program that generates an html file? If you have Word on your computer, you can paste images, pictures, and text into the word doc and save as html file. Not the most elegant way, but effective none the less.
No- I thought you had to have a program to start a website, or something. I don’t have Word.
I already started with Tripod. Only thing is, Big Bad Voodoo Lou, does Geocities allow you to copy pictures that aren’t, you know, covered by their network or whatever their licenensing agreement says? I looked at your site and it doesn’t appear to have random net pics so I’d assume no. Tripod has had problems, so I think it’s b/c the pictures have to be what I just said.
I’ve never had that problem, but I don’t know if it’s come up before either. I think you can use pictures from anywhere, as long as they aren’t pornographic, etc. If worst comes to worst, you can always get a free Photobucket account to display pictures saved on your hard drive, and link to it from the website. Go to http://www.photobucket.com to sign up!
