My friend(Wolverine) is allowing me to borrow his Gamecube for the three months that he is out of the country. Anyway, I was thinking of buying a game for it during that time, even though it’s not my machine.
I really like racing games and was wondering what racing games for the Cube are good. I always loved Gran Turismo 2 and 3, but reallllllllllllllly love rally games, like Colin Mcrae 2.0 for the PsOne.
Okay here are my questions, summed up clearly.
What, in your opinion, are the flat out best racing games for the Cube?
Have you played any of the Rally racing games and if so, which ones are good?
Finally, and rather unrelated, have you played Beach Spikers, the volleyball game for the Cube? I like beach volleyball and wouldn’t mind trying it if it is fun. I’m interested in whether or not it has fun gameplay. Thanks.
If you want something to rent, I’d recommend Extreme G 3 (or EGIII, as the packaging says). It’s not a rally racer, but you do upgrade your machine as the campaign goes on, and can replay older tracks. The opponents are a bit tough though.
At this point, there really aren’t many, or any. good racing/driving games out for the GC. NFS2:HP on the GC is awful… I don’t know what they did to it, or why, but it looks and plays like the version on the PSX. In June, F-Zero comes out… it looks amazing, but you’ll have had to give the cube back by then. As an aside, if you don’t already have a copy of Metroid Prime, beg, borrow, steal, buy, or rent one. It is, IMHO, the best console game ever made.
It’s out for the GC. I play it on the PS2 but if it’s any where close, it’s a great game. In career mode you work your way up from dirt to modified to trucks to the Winston Cup. Well worth your investment dollar.
