The Houston Oilers were indeed robbed in the 1979 AFC Championship game. If not winning, at least that Renfro TD would’ve kept them in it, taking the likely end to the last few minutes, if not OT. I’m not saying it’s a slam dunk they would’ve won, but the burn is still felt. Never let refs decide a game, man…
That’s not remotely crazy. IIRC England was only involved in the Middle East in the first place due to the need for all Jews to gather in the Promised Land and convert to Christianity so the Second Coming could occur. There are numerous Christian groups which still give support to Israel for this reason.
Wouldn’t you want to put each screw back in a different hole, to maximize friction and gripping power?
If you put it back exactly in the hole it came from, it’s “loose” as it exactly fits the grooves it came out of. It would be more likely to fall out on its own.
This is why I always put little shims of wood – like toothpicks – in screw holes when putting screws back in: it’s "new wood’ for the screw to bite into, to tighten the hole, and increase friction.
(This is also probably a crazy theory, but it’s what I learned at my papa’s knee – and other low joints.)
Even though its impossible to predict the next 30 years, I believe that Kennedy made a miscalculation during the Cuban Missile Crisis and that the Soviets were not the evil that many portrayed them as such. Instead of blocking the ships, Kennedy should have let them set up missiles in Cuba and do nothing to retaliate. Nothing would have come of it, nobody would nuke the US. Decades later, they probably would have been dismantled peacefully. Instead, the world came to the edge of a nuclear war all because a couple of men wanted to prove they had the bigger balls
Now that would be very cool if it were true!
What do you mean by ‘native cultures’?
I’m thinking like Polynesian islands where the cruise ships dock and the guys will dive for coins tossed over the railings. I imagine them making traditional dishes and wearing traditional costumes when the tourists are there and then when the ship leaves they bring the Playstations out of hiding.
Actually, the one that my family found craziest was recently proven: that most humans have some Neanderthal DNA, and that my family has more of it than most. Our skulls are proportionately larger than most, and although most of my cousins are well on the short side by Western standards we are much stronger than our peers. You wouldn’t believe the abuse I’ve taken for this one over the years, and now thanks to DNA testing it’s simple fact.
I feel that within around 20 years American public high schools will drop football because of the liability of concussion issues. The only way students will be able to play is thru club teams.
With that I see in 20 years lacrosse will replace football as a the gridiron favorite.
I feel that in a few isolated valleys, islands, mountaintops, and bodies of water, some dinosaurs survived extinction. This would be the basis for the legends of dragons, the occasional picture of dinosaur like creatures on ancient tombs and artwork, and the stories of early explorers like Marco Polo encountering large and small dragon/lizard like beasts including the mentioning of “behemoth” in the Bible.
Now were they direct descendants of ancient dinosaurs or did they evolve up over the past million years or so? I cannot say. So while its still true, in general, that dinosaurs died off millions of years ago, at least the large amount needed to sustain a viable breeding population, some stragglers did manage to survive. Eventually though competition for resources, climate change, and hunting by early humans killed the remnants. Similar to what killed off the remaining wooly mammoths.
Big pharma puts things into pills that create ghastly side effects that make the doctors prescribe more drugs, so they can make more money. How many people do you know who take drugs to counteract the side effects of drugs?
How would you know that has ever happened?

Shodan
Well, theoretically if your brother talked in his sleep, yelled “I’m falling! I’m falling!” then hit the floor and died…
Places where picturesque locals wear traditional dress and wile away the days making local crafts and doing folk dances are pretty rare. Most of the time the fancy costumes come put of the closet on holidays and the dances happen at weddings and the like, and Coca-Cola and Jennifer Lopez are popular everywhere.
That said, it’s possible to get way the heck out there. 30% of Mongolians really are nomadic. Go to the Congo Rainforest, and you will find Pygmy groups that live pretty far off the grid. Even China, which is pretty darn modern and globalized, is deeply and distinctively Chinese through and through. The global pop culture seeps in everywhere, but takes on different flavors.
But I don’t think that surprises anyone.
I believe that none of the things I believe are crazy. Which is nuts, really.
Ouija board.
I believe that the modern commute- sitting one person in a quarter ton of steel and hurtling them an average of 30 miles at high speed every day- will never be efficient.
I believe that the stability of Central African Republic is THE key factor in stability across the continent.
I believe not everyone wants to be a heroin addict.
The main reason why the Republicans won Ohio in 2004 was that the anti-SS marriage bill was also on the ballot. The Republicans put a great effort into organizing the rural vote, especially the Amish, most of whom had never voted before, and were of course opposed to SSM. I drove through Amish country shortly before the election, and the vast majority of Amish homes had yard signs saying things like:
**SAVE OUR CHILDREN
VOTE YES FOR ISSUE #1
**(Issue #1 was the change in Ohio’s constitution to ban SSM). I’m sure many of them didn’t even know what “Issue #1” meant, but who wouldn’t support something that saves our children? The rural vote, especially the Amish, supplied just enough Republican votes to guarantee both Bush’s reelection and the amendment to outlaw SSM in the state.
That may well be the case, but tell any regular Joe that we support Israel to facilitiate the return of Jesus and they’ll look at you like you’re crazy.
I believe that neither “Nature” nor “Nurture” is wholly responsible for the content of our minds. A third force – our Free Will – is also partially responsible and can - in some cases - actually override both “Nature” and “Nurture.”
And yes, I understand how crazy that is.
