What's the deal with Camel and Kamel cigarettes?

I’m aware that Kamel is owned by the Camel company. However, what is the difference between them? Are Kamels cheaper?

According to this, Red Kamel was being sold by RJ Reynolds (the makers of Camel) as a retro nostalgia brand.

Beyond that I don’t know.
Hold on a sec… My co-worker just noticed me typing this and mentioned that he used to smoke them. Other than the package design, he doesn’t recall any big difference between Red Kamels and Camels.

There is a little bit of a difference between the brands. A regular smoker would certainly notice that they are a “Camel Family” cigarette. (Different brands have a flavor profile unique to themselves. A Camel does not taste like a Marlboro, and both are different from a Winston.)

They usually aren’t on sale, and nearly always cost more than a “standard” Camel pack.

I personally Kamel Red Lights them better than a Camel Light (with a C), but they are pretty much interchangable.
