Some time yesterday, all the titles turned to _____________________________
This morning, some of them have returned, but some are still _____________
Does anyone know what caused it? (assuming I’m not the only one seeing it) And does this have anything to do with the occasional gaps in some posts where words ought to be?
The mouseover still works, even on __________________ titles.
Discovered that words marked bold would disappear.

I’ve heard complaints about Chrome and Firefox on OS X not showing bold text in some cases. The consensus seemed to be it was due to a font that didn’t have a bold weight, and rather than substitute a different font, the browser doesn’t show anything. The resolution was to fix the style sheet on the web site, or get rid of user style sheets if any are in use. If that’s not applicable to you, maybe try a different browser?

The disappearance of bold text like titles for me is associated with the disappearance of italics that has also been asked about in this forum recently. At times it seems like almost half the text on a page is lost.
Does anyone know what causes this? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Are you seeing this on all forums or just some particular forum(s)?

Well, that’s good to know. It wasn’t doing it previously. Oddly, some titles would show if moused over and others wouldn’t.
Oh, and it’s not doing it now. It just started, on the day I posted, with all of the titles gone and some blanks in posts. Then newer posts would have titles showing. Now all of them seem to show.
I have the same on my laptop and it’s been doing this on and off for a few months. While reloading doesn’t clear it up, closing the tab and opening a new one seems to.
I get different variants of the problem at different times. Sometimes only the italicized text is missing. Sometimes the bold in thread titles is missing. Sometimes letters are lost selectively from the titles, leaving a few isolated letters scattered here and there.
I use Adobe Acrobat Reader a lot for my work, and I think after rebooting the SDMB text disappears only after Acrobat Reader has been opened. In fact, it was disappearing yesterday while I had Acrobat Reader opened, but today, without having restarted, I haven’t used the Adobe and apparently the problem isn’t happening.
