What's the first movie you recall seeing that made you cry?

Brian’s Song Baybaee!!!

We just got word that Brian Piccolo is – that’s he’s sick, very sick. And, it looks like he might never play football again, or for a long time.

And, I think we should dedicate ourselves to give our maximum effort to win this game and give the game ball to “Pic.”

Billy Dee at his finest…

It’s a cliche, but in my case it’s true. I remember when I was a kid my Dad was watching this on TV; I had never heard of it. I missed the first 30 minutes or so but stayed until the end, at which point I was a blubbering mess. :frowning:

Dersu Uzala. I was 14 and home from school because of a cold and happened to watch this movie on TV. (Only many years later did I realize it was directed by Kurosawa.) I might have cried earlier from a movie, but this is the first I remember. It had a tremendous impact on me, and took me completely off guard, so to speak, because it appeared to be just a boring old film, but there was nothing else on, so I watched it and will never forget.

Ring of Bright Water.

The only movie I remember making me cry is Edward Scissorhands.

I did, but in my defense, I often cry when I’m experiencing physical pain.

Bambi, Dumbo or maybe Old Yeller.

Damn you, Uncle Walt!

That bunyip sequence was some serious nightmare fuel.

Sniper.

This, except my sister and I were young enough to unashamedly bawl our eyes out. The signs were so mean to Snoopy and Woodstock!

One of the “Planet of the Apes” movies. I can’t recall which one it was or how old I was but there’s a scene that takes place on a ship and a little ape infant - possibly that of the main characters? - is shot by the bad guys / gorillas and then we see its little dead body floating in the sea. I don’t know what came over me but I was HYSTERICAL.Thanks goodness it was on TV at the time and not in the theater because I had a major meltdown. As I’ve gotten older it takes less and less to make me misty eyed but up to that time I honestly don’t recall anything on the screen making me that sad.

Benji.

There. I said it. Benji.

Shut up.

The only movie I can remember making me cry was A Time to Kill. It’s lame, but at the end I cried when the white kids were playing with the black kids… I think I was 16. It was really embarrassing leaving the theater all teary-eyed.

The Green Mile didn’t make me cry, but I was totally upset when that one character was put to death without the wet sponge on his head. I’ll never watch that movie again.

I also saw Bambi around 3 or 4 and literally bawled my figurative butt off by the end of it. I think I was crying just because my sisters were, I don’t remember it very well other than it was the first movei that I remembered and there was a fire and Bambi’s mom got shot.

Same HERE!!

Same here, except I become a blubbering mess. Getting choked up just thinking about it.

The Wizard of Oz. “I think I’ll miss you most of all.” And the floodgates open. And then a moment later when Glinda is sending her back using REAL MAGIC“There’s no place like home…” – more tears, but more thrilled than sad.

And I’m thirding Benji. I steadfastly maintain that that dog could act.

Born Free
We saw it at a drive-in when I was 7 or 8.

Same here also.

It took a lot of thought, but I finally remembered what it was: a movie about a dog named Scruffy. The scene that made me cry, back when I was 10 or 11, was when the homeless man who took her in died suddenly, leaving her all alone. Again. Interestingly, there are two threads at IMDB by other people saying it’s the first movie to make them cry too.
